Chinese President Hu Jintao said Saturday that China has set an unswerving policy on consolidating ties with Cuba, and the policy will not alter regardless of changes in international situation.
Hu made the remarks at a meeting with Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and vice president of the Council of State of Cuba.
With concerted efforts, China believes the bilateral friendship between China and Cuba would be developed better, said Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
In recent years, China and Cuba, as well as the Communist parties of China and Cuba, frequented exchange of high-profile visits, enhanced mutual trust and expanded cooperation in various fields, said Hu.
As both parties adhere to socialism, explore the path of development fit for their own national conditions and are devoted to economic development to improve the people's living standards, there is a solid foundation for further cementing China-Cuba ties, Hu said.
Hu valued the achievements made by the Communist Party of Cuba, led by Fidel Castro Ruz, in leading the Cuban people to pushing forward the socialist cause.
Machado said that the two parties and two peoples supported each other in building socialism and closely cooperated in international issues, which greatly contributed to world peace anddevelopment.
The Cuban people admired the achievements of the Chinese people, Machado said, adding that Cuba is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in all fields.
This is one of the ties detailed in my fictional scenario in the Dragon's Fury Series
Isn't that just swell.
Per our earlier discussion...the threat is now.
FYI.
My comment wasn't meant for your series, Jeff, but the Chinese/Cuba friendship.

The Rising Sea Dragon in Asia is spreading its tentacles into our hemisphere in Cuba, the Bahamas, Central America and South America.
Understood.
At that point, when we try to respond to both of those major theaters of operation (ie. The ME and Korea), they would act themselves and move on Taiwan and eslewhere IMHO.
They are busily preparing for that eventuality, and they are using our own funds to do so. Preparing for...
Cuba acknowledges post-Soviet 'people's tunnels'
Havana has acknowledged for the first time that it maintains underground facilities called "people's tunnels."
The official Granma newspaper stated Sept. 10 that Army Gen. Alvaro Lopez Miera said areas in the path of hurricane Ivan should be evacuated, and to avoid casualties, "people's tunnels would be used as shelters for the people."
The Cuban military said the tunnels were originally built during preparations for war against the United States. "We even have shelters to protect our people in case of war. During the two-hour period the hurricane is expected to lash the island, the people must remain in a shelter," the general said.
Hundreds of tunnels were built on the island as part of a post-Soviet Cuban defense strategy known as "the war of all the people."
So our out-sourcing to China will be brokered to Cuba via China then, huh? May as well ship the cigars direct to the U.S.
China is blatantly extending its influence into our hemisphere, and in very strategic locations (surprize, surprize)...time to reapply the Monroe Doctrine.
- All men and women are equal.
- All share equally in the bounty of a working and industrious society.
- One goal, one thought, one people for World peace.
It seems that they believe we won't use nuclear weapons in a first strike for some reason. I don't believe that. If faced with an overwhelming threat on multiple fronts, I tend to believe that the current administration would use our offensive nukes.
Given the ChiCom's desire to open a multiple front conflict using their proxies in North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, Syria and most likely Brazil (I know there are more) before committing their own troops and showing their hand, it would be in our best interests to saturate the Chinese military centers with nuclear strikes. This would leave most of their country intact as the PLA tends to locate itself away from the populace for secrecy.
We should be making it very clear to China that any further adventurism will result in their decimation.
Chinas foot hold in the Western Hemisphere is about to be expanded.
The history of Cuba as a source of instability in South America must be very tempting to China.
And Cuba must see in this union a replacement for the long lost Soviet subsidies.
China will supply the funds and Cuba will supply the trained rabble rousers.
the policy will not alter regardless of changes in international situation.
How about regardless of a regime change from the failed Cuban communist dictatorship?
Besides, there's so much those two countries can do for each other. China can import sugar from Cuba, and Cuba can import... missiles? Why would Cuba import missiles?
Don't take this as an insult by any means, but this really is 'paint by numbers' stuff. China is making strategic moves that will one day fit into it's ultimate goals of global domination. The Cuba thing, it's just so predictable. To those that have a hard time thinking outside the box, I recommend your books. I recommend them anyway, but you know what I mean.
In the mean time, I suggest once again, that we simply cut the money spiggot to China.
We should stop trade with them and set up a merchant ship fleet that sees COSCO replaced in less than a decade.
I think a top-down structure only works with computer programming. The only workable structure for people is the inverted pyramid -- with "We the People" on the top tier. Ideally, governments are needed but should be 'sub-routines' when called -- unseen and unheard from and buried beneath ground level. Out of sight, out of earshot, and outta my life.
Human progress will grind to a halt without proper stress. World peace can never be achieved by government decree or force. Only by the recognition that each individual is sovereign and has the right to self-determination. If governments have any value, they should exist to insure that right, and to mediate contractual obligations between sovereigns.
Otherwise, world peace is going to look like this, IMO:
