Does this really help, Redstone endorsement?
From The Asian Wall Street Journal ^ | 9-24-04

Sumner Redstone....."I don't want to denigrate Kerry," he went on, "but from a Viacom standpoint, the election of a Republican administration is a better deal. Because the Republican administration has stood for many things we believe in, deregulation and so on. The Democrats are not bad people. . . . But from a Viacom standpoint, we believe the election of a Republican administration is better for our company."

Mr. Redstone's office immediately went into overdrive, denying on Wednesday that he's a raised funds for the Democratic presidential nominee. Then came yesterday's "I vote Republican" vow in Hong Kong.

I don't know if this helps President Bush with that percentage of the population that buys into the boogyman tails that the Republicans are only for the rich and are bought up by big companies. Redstone's statement, although it might be me, sounds like he is rubbing just that in the public's face. The way it is worded bothers me also. The company, the company, no mention of the Republicans would be better for the country, just the company.

The second thing I noticed was the part of the article that says it was thought that he was raising funds for the Democrat nominee and then he endorses President Bush. Usually the reporters that follow and report on these business elites knwo what they are doing in regards to something like fundraisers.

Could this be something Kerry could build on with the help of this little statement? Kerry campaign could use it and say "See, big business like the President because he is giving them all kinds of tax breaks".

Sure it helps.

It helps CBS pretend they are not biased.

Like all good Democrats, Redstone can lie for the good of the Party when called upon to do so.
