Thought a thread in Breaking News for the weekend covering Hurricane Jeanne would be a good thing. Post your link, pics, updates and freeper check-in's here
9:00a.m. in ft myers and all is well....for the time being.
National Guard units, etc. have even been activated and sent into the affected areas to provide electrical generators, food, medical attention, temporary shelters..
So far, emergency measures have worked well, when people have listened to warnings, and evacuated or sheltered as directed..
We have been feeling the winds from it since yesterday afternoon (Daytona Beach). Getting bands or atleast storm clouds being pulled into it from the NE now.
LOL! Stay away from Disney!
JEB on tv......
This sucks...................
JEB BUSH on FOX NOW..
Storm will be "stronger than Frances"..
"follow instructions of authorities"
"evacuate west, not northwest"
"People are not to go north but to go west if they evacuate. They are getting word people are not evacuating. Every storm is different. Take heed!"
Hey SE Mom, I'm in Winter Springs.
Don't know how close you live to Winter Park Dr but I was riding my bike down thru there the day before yesterday and I noticed a tree leaning against a power line right near the golf course. I can't believe Progress Energy hasn't taken care of it yet. But you can bet it will go quickly in this storm.
Will do.
Thats my photo!
Thanks for the links!
Here is a good one if you want to track wind speed and barometric pressure:
http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/Maps/Florida.shtml
You can click on the buoys off the coast of FL.
For Francis, it took me 4 hours to go from Brevard Co. to I-Drive in O-town. Took 2 hours from Orlando airport to I-drive.
I'm in a Hampton Inn where I stayed for Francis. Never lost power. Free breakfasts, microwaves available for lunches and dinners. Not bad.
Only problem with Francis was all the I-drive restaurants closed then it took days for the storm to get over. Got tired of peanut butter sandwiches.
I have friends who are still waiting for contractors to give them bids for roof damage they gto from CHARLEY
Takin' a right at Okeechobee, and heading North, right up the center of the state..
The last I heard, the storm will exit in Jacksonville.
Commercial boat? Do you fish commercially or is it private?
I believe it. 95 and the Beeline into Orlando are deserted.
Looks like we'll be OK this time (fingers crossed, don't wobble south).
