The worst of all the storms have passed far enough to the west of me that I haven't had much problems with them.

well we are finally able to get cable & internet. Electricity out for 1 hour but cable & internet out for 24 hours. Hubby was going stir crazy with no tv & I was so bored I cut down 2 trees that were damaged due to Frances & Jeanne.

Sorry I missed your return message yesterday and well done on no major problems.

Never lost power here (just south of downtown CW) only about 30 flickers where my UPS squawked. Some of my friends in town lost power but mostly its back on now.

I had a chain link fence blow over and a dripping leak around a fan that are both now fixed.

Saw a few trees down around the area lots of minor damage - signs down & whatnot, but overall looks like we held our own pretty well.

Thank God it came across the state before Pinellas.

Take care.

No, I'm not on the water. I'm 9 miles from the Chesapeake Bay and 10 miles from the barrier islands blocking the Atlantic Ocean.

It's wind, not water that is a concern where I am, except when we get an inordinate amount of rain, like we did this past summer. Flat ground has a difficult time absorbing more than 20 inches of rain in 13 days - and that was before we got the dumping from Charlie!!!! Folks on the water actually had less problems with all the rain than those of us inland.

My friend in Melbourne had his power restored at exactly 08:00 this AM. He said it went out at 03:00 Sunday morning.

Says power on the cross streets, which were apparently on a different grid, is still out.

I am reporting in with no damage to my mobile home after hours and hours of howling, roaring, relentless gusting winds of about 60-70mph north of Orlando. Tree branches everywhere now. I have lived here a long time and that storm was gusting and howling as early as 6:00am this morning with trails of gray clouds even as it was in Georgia! What a tenacious beast!

Trying to catch up on this thread...

Did your son get back over to the beaches?

I have not found anyone else to check on my home.

Our power went out yesterday at 7:50am but they got it back on at noon today! A BIG Kudos to Progress Energy! They yelled out to me "Your power should be back on now!" I was carrying an armful of branches to the road and gave a thumbs up. Our neighbors were perking coffee on the grill on their porch and offered us some! We were so thankful! We also made some hot dogs! The smallest kindnesses make such a difference! We had a mattress with pillows in the hallway just in case things got bad but we never had to get under them. Our phones went out today and Sprint put them back on two hours after we called! Kudos to Sprint!

Lost a good sized section of shingle strips, etc. on the roof and had to collect them off the ground and nail them down and use the wet/dry tar to fix towards the ends of the hurricane. In this way was able to obviate water damage.
