BAGHDAD, Iraq - Four U.S. Marines were killed in three separate incidents west of Baghdad, the U.S. military said Saturday.
The four were assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force and were killed Friday while conducting security operations in Anbar province, the military said. No further details were provided.
The names of the dead were withheld pending notification of their families.
As of Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, 1,042 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to the Defense Department. Of those, 792 died as a result of hostile action. The figures include three military civilians.

God hold these brave warriors in his arms.May God comfort those who mourn...
Amen.
Those kinds of comments are the reason I hesitate to recommend FR to friends and co-workers.
This happened Friday, and I certainly hope their families have already been notified by now. I'd hate to think every single family member of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force has to agonize for hours until the names are released.
Rest In Peace .
With a solemn salute, a bowed head, and a grateful heart, I extend a "Thank you" to those who bravely sacrifice.
Does anyone know where the names are posted online after family is notified?
It's time to incinerate Iraq. I want to see mushroom clouds over Baghdad, Fallujah, Najaf, and all those other ratholes. Neither Bush nor Kerry has the will to do what it takes to really win this war.
We didn't have the will to win in Korea and Vietnam either. Something is clearly wrong. What happened to no substitute for victory?

Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones, and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family.
Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my Country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.
If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again.
Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.

Please elaborate so I may embarrass you publicly, as you so often try to do to others with your normaly, but not always, subtle condescension...
What is it about what I said that you don't understand?
. . . so I may embarrass you publicly . . .
Give it your best shot!
The screen name is leadpenny, not leadpipe.

Are you running cover for the kerry campaign? Because kerry is running on the blood of this war, if you haven't noticed...
