US Muslims Walking Away From Bush
Islam-Online ^ | September 24 2004

Posted on 09/24/2004 8:54:07 PM PDT by Former Military Chick

WASHINGTON, September 24 (IslamOnline.net) - With US presidential elections looming large, polls showed a drastic decline of American Muslims' support for US president George Bush in the coming November elections.

Nearly 68% of US Muslims said they would vote for Democrat presidential hopeful John Kerry in the presidential elections, against only 7% eager to vote for the incumbent Bush.

According to the poll -- conducted by the Zogby International Center - and surveying 1700 US Muslims, around 11% of the Muslim community are willing to vote for the independent candidate Ralph Nader in the coming elections.

The poll also showed a turnout among the US Muslims' support for the Republican Party as only 12% said they support the Republicans, against 23% in the 2001 polls.

Around 50% of the US Muslims said they support the Democratic Party rising from 40% in 2001, while the support for independent candidates has increased to hit 31%, against 28% in previous polls.

Drastic Turnout

Polls in 2000 showed Muslims favoring Bush over Al Gore by a wide margin - some showed support in the 90 percent range - and some groups argued that some 60,000 Muslim votes put Bush over the top in Florida.

It's amazing how much can change in four years, according to the Zogby website.

“He is not the president he promised to be in 2000,” Samer Hanini, a 29-year-old architect, was quoted on the website as saying.

“He failed us in areas of Mid East peace, foreign policy and the economy. I’m embarrassed I voted for him.”

After the Sept. 11 attacks, and the anti-terror policies that followed, Muslim leaders who had organized the Bush endorsement said openly they had made a mistake , the USA Today said in a report last week.

On April 29, a poll conducted by the Washington-based Arab American Institute revealed that a majority of Arab Americans in four battleground states would vote for Kerry if presidential elections were held that day.

Political Unity

Feeling their influence in the US elections, the American Muslims are willing to politically unite during the November presidential elections as 81% expressed support for the agenda of the US Muslim civil rights and elections committee.

According to the Zogby poll, around 69% of those polled said they would vote for the presidential candidate whom the US Muslim committee favors.

Some 53% said they prefer to vote in the presidential elections as one group.

The US Muslim civil rights and elections committee comprises a number of major Islamic organizations in the United States, foremost of which are the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the American Islamic society, the American Muslim coalition, the Islamic group for North America and a group of Islamic groups in the country.

The agenda of the committee for the November elections touches on enhancing civil rights in the country as well as other issues of concern for the American public as education, economic reform, environment, election system reform and the dissemination of peace and justice.

When you are disagreed with, it in no way proves you right, nor is it necessarily an attack. Is this Senator Kerry to whom I am posting?

Go back and read what I wrote. It most definitely does prove me right. I said that if I was Muslim, reading posts on FR would definitely cause me to not vote Republican. The posts to this thread have in no way made my statement false.

"True, but if I was Muslim, and I read even a few of the posts on here, I would never vote Republican either"

But if you were a Muslim you also would worship a "prophet" who was a torturer and murderer and consider a book that teaches justification of all manner of vile treatment of those who believe differently to be holy scripture.

Until the international Muslim community voices resounding outrage at what is being done in the name of their religion...certainly louder than their complaints about how their civil rights are being violated or how it's harder for students to come to the U.S...they don't appear all that distanced from those committing the atrocities.

They fit more naturally with the Democrats anyways...they want a double standard to be able to dish it out but whine for protection from their own medicine. That's pure standard-operating-procedure for today's Democratic Party.

But the supposed attacks against you did not make that statement so, as you stated it did. If you remember, you said that the ATTACKS proved your statement to be correct, which occurred after your declaration. This declaration was true first and, therefore, the attacks could not have caused it to be true. I do believe that you would not vote for a Republican, having read the posts to this thread, if you were a Muslim. The attacks did not make this so.

After we take down the ACLU on RICO statutes:

1)Secure the borders and ports. We have the money, technology and manpower (I'll volunteer my services) to do it almost 'overnight'.

2)Register all American Muhammadans. Intern the males 13 and over. Place the families of these seperately. Deport or detain the rest and shoot 'runners'.

3)Send the Bees a buzzin (B-1s, 2s, 52s, etc) to Tehran, Damascus and the Ashpanistan region with some real 'shock and awe' that strikes fear and eliminates major problems.

4)Leave Israel to kill their own terrorist enemies and clean out their woods of the Death Cultists.

5)Outlaw Mein Koran.

In a generation or two, this mortal threat to the world and particularly America will be no more.

He won't do squat to protect us and they're literally banking on it

Let's say there were another 9/11 type attack on Kerry's watch and Kerry did squat what would his approval rating be?

Kerry would be afraid for his job if he didn't do something. I think American Muslims would suffer greatly.

Sadly, I can't see either candidate planning to do much about it. There has been an interesting development here locally. Anyone with a felony record is being kicked out of section 8 housing by the train load.

I don't know what lit a fire under who, but alot of house cleaning seems to be going on, and I do like that.

I am far from being an expert on Islam but my husband has been reading quite a bit about Islam lately, the Koran as well as several research books on Islam. From what he has shared with me, it's my understanding that true Islam is radical and extreme teachings are the true teachings of Islam.

Time4Atlas2Shrug wrote:

-"It is very difficult for them to denounce jihadist terrorism because their prophet engaged in the same actions. Their holy book advocates beheadings for infidels. The Koran requires Muslims to engage in jihad with infidels if they do not convert or accept dhimmitude (unbelievers agreeing to live under Islmic law).

For the "moderate" Muslim community to publicly condemn the actions of terrorists would be to condemn the literal practice of Islam. This religion is facing a serious crisis, in my opinion."

-I agree, this religion is facing a serious crisis here in the US. "Moderate" Muslims here are in a pickle. If they lived in Muslim countries I wonder how "moderate" they could and would be in view of the fact that as "moderates" they would be viewed as friends of the infidels and there would be repercussions. I believe that "moderates" Muslims here have been influenced and affected by our teachings and society and by the freedom they experience.

This is not to take away from some that are moderate because it's their nature to be moderate and they lack bloodthirstiness. I am not saying that every Muslim is on a par with those decapitating people but their religion is.

Another observation: Chemist_Geek wrote quoting Al Waidh:

"What silence?
"As scholars, we condemn any hostility that restricts the freedom of people of any religion, whether by unjustifiably holding or kidnapping them, especially what is going on with the two French journalists, and we also condemn the killing of innocent people and ask their killers what guilt did they have," said Al Waidh concerning killing and kidnapping foreigners."

Please note that Al Waidh started his denunciation with the words As scholars. Note he did not say As Muslims. Also please note the comment especially what is going on with the 2 French Journalists. I don't believe this statement has the strength against Terrorism that it pretends to especially when it comes to America.

Did he not state that he'd go to the UN for "proper approval" first?

His "approval rating" won't mean a damn thing if we're all sick/dying from a dirty bomb or bio-weapon.
By then it will be too late.
Terrorists know we'll have another klinton type in the WH.
His inaction/"slow, studied response" may cost him a second term due to voter dissatisfaction but by that time, it probably won't matter anyway.

I have no faith in his "hawkish" BS whatsoever.

Maybe "American Muslims" should show their disapproval [if they have any] of terrorism by supporting the president who is seeking to rid the world of it.

If Irish Protestant hillbillys had flown those planes into the towers, I'd be screaming my disapproval from the rooftops.

There comes a time when "right vs wrong" dictates that you must choose sides, even if it means choosing against your "own kind".

Just my humble opinion.

Hi Free Thinker: You wrote: "Where is their outrage at the slaughter of their fellow Americans? Why don't they organize mass protests to send a message to Al Qaeda and the "insurgents" in Iraq, . ."

Why aren't WE organizing mass protest to call attention to these Muslim sympathizers in our midst?? Seems to me, we ought to be shaming these people in a public manner BIGTIME.

It is NOT ok to live in America, enjoy the benefits of freedom, and then be ambivalent about our citizens being murdered. If it were up to me, we would freeze the muslims out of the U.S. meaning, not employee them and enable them to live here in the U.S. Their establishment in the U.S. is too risky. I don't want to share my country with these medieval barbarians. The good Muslims should go home and change their OWN country.

Most polls seem to show both Muslem and Jewish support for GWB qt 20% or so, nationwide.

My comment that more Jews would support GWB than Muslims was based on the following from the lead to the thread: "Nearly 68% of US Muslims said they would vote for Democrat presidential hopeful John Kerry in the presidential elections, against only 7% eager to vote for the incumbent Bush."

In this country when the KKK burns crosses on lawns or kill and terrorize people...

Did I miss something? Has that been happening lately?

It is obvious to me that a majority of muslims take quiet satisfaction at 9/11 and other terrorist outrages, especially those against the US.Their infrequent condemnations of terrorism nearly always include a condemnation of American actions (the big BUT), thus equating us with the terrorists and excusing terrorist attacks against us.

These unreliable alien residents should be deported immediately! They cannot be counted on to support domestic security, but can be counted upon to offer silent approval to Muslim murderers and, in some cases, to offer actual support to them.

Perhaps I should have said "burned." That was my point. Cross burnings are not happening because we as a society condemned it and took legal action to stop it. The moderate Muslim world needs to do the same towards the radical elements in their communities.
