Broadcast for widest dissemination, as the media fails us in getting this information out to the public.

This needs to be hand delivered to Senator Kerry.

I am tired of people "not getting it."Dear Marine,
Thank you for your service. For what it's worth, I get it. And a lot more people than you know get it. When President Bush is reelected, maybe the MSM will get it. God bless and protect you!

It's a good letter. Great writing. But virtual pamphleteering makes me a little uneasy these days post-Rathergate. Why don't these fine fellas contact NRO or something and have them publish it, instead? Even if this is a fake source, it's a good oped.

Very important and eloquent sentiments in this article. I appreciate your work, Marine! This statement in particular hit home with me:
In your disagreement and debate about the current conflict, however, be very careful that you do not jeopardize your nation or those who serve. The best time to use your freedom of speech to debate difficult decisions is before they are made, not when the lives of your countrymen are on the line.
I challenge any DU lurker to post this on your forum. These are true words from one of the troops you claim to support. Do you support him? Validate him-post his words.

Hugh Hewitt had a USMC Col. Jeff Cooper on his show yesterday, a Reserve guy who just returned from his second Iraq tour stationed in Al Anbar province. He was training Iraqi police recruits.
The Colonel affirmed every optimistic development Prime Minister Allawi detailed yesterday.
Hugh Hewitt's show is re-broadcast in a loop on KRLA 870. Col. Cooper appeared at about the 15 minute mark of the first hour.
It's a good listen.

I lifted the body from a personal e-mail that had been forwarded to me. The name was removed because officers must be apolitical and keep their endorsements and opinions from becoming public. IMHO, this was simply too political to assign the name. Besides, it is in effect a personal note that got out.
Nonetheless, the body of the text was too good not to share.
If it's any consolation to you, I'm in contact with several Marines in Iraq. To a man, they feel exactly as this young officer so eloquently has stated.
I believe it to be authentic.

re: "hand delivered to Senator Kerry"
Amen! And then he should be made to read it out loud on a national broadcast followed by a poll to ask if the viewers feel from his performance that he 'gets it'. If not, he should be made to do it again, and keep on reading it daily until the public feels he gets it. Problem is, it would be such a torturous performance that most people would just go ahead and vote that he had gotten it, just to avoid having to sit through another performance! At least I know I would!

Do not support those that seek failure for us, or seek to trivialize the sacrifices made here. Do not make the deaths of your countrymen be in vain. Communicate to your media and elected officials that you are behind us and our mission. Send letters and encouragement to those who are deployed. When you meet a person that serves you, whether in the armed forces, police, or fire department, show them respect. Thank the spouses around you every day, raising children alone, whose loved ones are deployed. Remember not only those that have paid the ultimate price, but the veterans that bear the physical and emotional scars of defending your freedom. At the very least, follow your mother's advice. "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Do not give the enemy a foothold in our Nation's public opinion. He rejoices at Fahrenheit 9/11 and applauds every time an American slams our efforts. The military can succeed here so long as American citizens supportus wholeheartedly. Excellent essay, thank you American patriot, thank you Marine !

Tell them from me (wife (VN 'era'), daughter (combat WWII), granddaughter (combat WWI), and great-great granddaughter (combat Civil War) of Army grunts . . . ) that we honor and appreciate their service and bless them in their mission.
And remind them that the #$)(*@# news media filters their supporters out on purpose, and that there is far more love and support for them at home than they realize.
