Did Kerry Lie about Attending the Signing of the Gulf-War Ceasefire

I just watched the rerun of O'Reilly's 2001 interview with Kerry discussing the need to invade Iraq. In that interview, Kerry said the following: "I mean, I was in Safwan. I went there when the signing of the armistice took place at the end of the war." I've watched the video of the cease-fire signing at Safwan. It was still in a combat zone. I don't remember seeing anyone but military officers. Can anyone provide additional insight, or has Kerry lied again.

I think Bill O'Reilly has been spun. I wonder if he'd like to know. Why bother? He'd just deny it. He's too arrogant to agree anybody played him. Everytime someone is critical of O'Reilly he unleashes the "Dan Rather Treatment". Remember Drudge and the book sales? O'Reilly was wrong but you'd never have known it from listening to him.

There must be a FReeper who could as Gen. Schwarzkopf personally if Kerry was there. Wouldn't surprise me if "The Bear" was a FReeper himself. Hmm, there is a FReeper "Bear". No about page, but since '98.

Interesting question! I survived cancer in a nearby part of the body (testicular) and had 6 CAT scans of the pelvic region, from the knees to the abdomen, before I was through.... I'm sure there are medical people who know all sorts of things about Kerry that would be of interest -- of course, if he could ever be pressured into signing that SF-180 then we would have the real story from his Vietnam days, but the media doesn't even notice that issue.....

Hmmmm.....wonder if some enterprising person can come up with a good protest sign using parts of this observation...

As a Senator in the majority party Kerry may have been at such a signing. Not in Safwan.

Senator, Same Constituent":
"Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition ... to the early use of military force by the US against Iraq. I share your concerns. On January 11, I voted in favor of a resolution that would have insisted that economic sanctions be given more time to work and against a resolution giving the president the immediate authority to go to war."
--letter from Senator John Kerry to Wallace Carter of Newton Centre, Massachusetts, dated January 22 [1991]
"Thank you very much for contacting me to express your support for the actions of President Bush in response to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. From the outset of the invasion, I have strongly and unequivocally supported President Bush's response to the crisis and the policy goals he has established with our military deployment in the Persian Gulf."

Thanks -
I know lotsa FReepers have the good stuff at their fingertips -
CBS/Rathergate has been great for me -
My lib NYC sister cannot and has not replied to any of the zingers slipped into my emails about Dan Rather, Mary Mapes, Bill Burkett, Joe Lockhart I have sent her the last few days and she usually goes nuts -
She knows computers and the early typewriters too and must figure this is either a low budget DNC/CBS conspiracy fakeroo or Dan Rather and CBS are just pathically incompetent and blatantly buyassed -
60 Minutes' admitted leftie Andy Rooney slamming Rather and CBS was a big bonus!

Oh My God! .........I just had a bone chilling, blast from the past! This behavior all of a sudden is bringing back some memories I would rather forget. Has anyone else had any experience with people with Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder? I do, and God help America, he certainly shows the classic signs.
I don't know why I didn't see this before. Wonder if he has ever been evaluated. I am serious, though, he does show classic symptoms..........scarey!!!

I've had experience with it directly (throughout childhood) and I don't doubt it either.

Here you people go, again. When Kerry says he was there, what the senator obviously means is that he was out windsurfing during the cease-fire signing, then watched it on videotape later that day. You see, when you're a war hero/senator/mega-athletic Renaissance Man from the Land of Enlightenment, your words take on meanings that the hoi polloi can't possibly understand. Just keep in mind that we are incapable and unworthy of understanding what his statements mean. Its the nuance, man, the nuance!

If the only event was the one at Safwan. I questioned whether there was another more official event where the UN Protocols were agreed to by the Gov't of Iraq, probably in the person of sock puppet Tariq Aziz. As a Senator of the majority party Kerry may, rpt May have been present and the event may have been also at Safwan. Questions to ask and answer before going after Kerry for something that may easily explainable> I understand the idea of body of evidence, but let's not be Dems, throwing stuff up to see if it sticks.

"Also, after a little checking, don't forget that Kerry voted against Desert Storm. If he was there, he would be having a crow dinner. The odds of him being there are extremely low."
DESERT STORM:
The President asked Congress for use of force authorization.
UN approved the action.
Many allies participating, including our European allies.
Congress passed the vote.
Kerry voted against it....all the conditions he demands for any kind of action, yet the JOhnKERry still votes against it!

Hmmm, the signing in Safwan took place of Sunday March 3, 1991 ... yet three days later on Wednesday March 6, 1991
Kerry was IN the US Senate voting NAY on S Amndt 23, to bill S.419
And...
Three days before on Thursday Feb 28, 1991 Kerry was AGAIN in the US Senate, voting Yea "On the Resolution (Cmte. Funding Resolution No. 62)".
Now that's a lot of traveling between Votes. As such, I really, REALLY doubt he was there. And I hate to say it, but he's apparently (gasp) fibbing.
(I LOVE "Thomas", you can find anything Congress does there and WHO voted when and on what.)
