Did Kerry Lie about Attending the Signing of the Gulf-War Ceasefire
O'Reilly Factor ^ | 24 Sept 2004 | Rokke

Posted on 09/23/2004 9:18:29 PM PDT by Rokke

I just watched the rerun of O'Reilly's 2001 interview with Kerry discussing the need to invade Iraq. In that interview, Kerry said the following: "I mean, I was in Safwan. I went there when the signing of the armistice took place at the end of the war." I've watched the video of the cease-fire signing at Safwan. It was still in a combat zone. I don't remember seeing anyone but military officers. Can anyone provide additional insight, or has Kerry lied again.

I just looked at Schwarzkopf's bio, and no mention of any politicians at Safwan. Kerry not listed in the index, either...

"Developing"...

Johnny was there on a secret mission by order of that eeevil President George H Bush. As much as it was against his conscience at the time he was serving his nation and the memory is seared like a Ruth's Chris Steak into his mind.

Caption of that photo: "The photo above was taken on March 3, 1991, at Safwan, Iraq. Visible in the image are Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, the commander in chief of US Central Command, along with Saudi Lt. Gen. Khalid Bin Sultan, commander of the Joint ArabIslamic Force, sitting next to him. Accross the table, facing them, are officers from the Iraqi delegation."

Got that probably from the same place you did http://www.globalsecurity.org/intell/library/imint/safwan.htm

I think someone posted from there earlier also ... still searching ...

The photos from that link don't seem to show Teraysa's plane being there.

Yeah, but we gotta make sure the Kerry quote is accurate. According to Direct TV, The O'Reilly factor plays again at 3 am central time

Aren't the Senate minutes public? Does anyone know if they are posted to the web? Surely they would have a roll call about something that day!

To be fair sKerry doesn't say he was at the actual signing of the armistice but that he was in the city of Safwan when it was signed.

Since Safwan was still in Iraqi hands at the time that would mean that sKerry was meeting with the enemy again - just like in Paris.

Read the description of the armistice at Safwan in post 106. There is absolutely no way Kerry was there.

Why do I have a feeling that Kerry won't sign the form 180 to release all of his military records because of the word...schizophrenia?

I read the transcript from an earlier thread, and listened when it played again tonight. He clearly says what I quoted.

I'm not suggesting anyone on FreeRepublic would own such a piece of trash, but if he were at Safwan, I'm sure he would describe it in his recent book. Far be it from Kerry not to float his own boat about something like that.

The Senate was in session on Feb. 28 and Mar. 5, 1991 with only a pro forma session between lasting one minute on the 1st. There were no roll call votes on the 5th.
