Redstone will give them a pat on the head and reduce their bonuses by 10%. Not only is he liberal, but every member of the Viacom board is a leftie.

"Commenting on the upcoming U.S. presidential election, Redstone said that while Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) was a "nice guy," the re-election of President Bush would be best for Viacom's interests, since the Administration backed deregulation and other issues that would help the company."

LOL...wish I could see Kerry's face when he hears this.

If Mapes and Rather are fired, which I doubt, they will both be rewarded with very large golden parachutes. I doubt if Rather will be fired.

They will both be fired or forced to resign. This thing is too big and is snowballing with no sign of abatement. CBS held out hoping for blackouts on the story from the other networks and the press, but this has not happened. Afilliates and sponsors are under fire.

Rather will not anchor the desk for the election night coverage.

Liberal or not, when advertisers start bailing out of the $3000 per second sponsorship of Gunga Dan, then "appropriate consequences" are likely to become "serious consequences" -- Unlike PBS, CBS is not playing with OPM (Other Peoples Money - read the money of the largest republican group - actual US taxpayers)

Rather may not anchor the CBS desk on election night--but if this moves fast enough he may be a special paid commentator for CNN while serving as a consultant to the Kerry campaign.

Hey someone ask Cavile and Begala if either of them talked with Burkitt.

I doubt Bug-eyed Joe was alone.

Janet Jackson's boob cost CBS over half a million in fines, and millions in bad publicity. Did anybody lose their jobs over it? No. The Reagans movie was such an embarrassment, CBS had to pull it off their airwaves. Did anybody lose their jobs over it? No. Howard Stern cost Viacom millions in fines. Did anybody lose their jobs over it? No. I expect the same thing will happen with Rathergate, that the "Appropriate Consequences" will be a stern warning.

If they aren't fired then CBS will be.
