Details About People Who Are 'very Satisfied' With Lives The Associated Press Published: Sep 23, 2004

Some demographics and details about people who describe themselves as "very satisfied" with their lives. Results come from polling conducted for the Associated Press by Ipsos-Public Affairs. The poll of 1,001 adults was taken Aug. 16-18 and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, larger for subgroups. In general, how satisfied are you with the way things are going in your life at this time? Would you say ....

-Very satisfied, 38 percent

-Somewhat satisfied, 42 percent

-Somewhat dissatisfied, 11 percent

-Very dissatisfied, 8 percent

-Not sure, 1 percent

Groups most likely to be "very satisfied" with their lives.

-Investors earning more than $100,000 a year, 61 percent

-Active investors, 58 percent

-People earning more than $75,000 a year, 56 percent

-Republicans, 55 percent (compared with Democrats at 27 percent)

-College graduates, 51 percent (compared with 33 percent for those with some college and 30 percent of those with a high school education or less)

-Married with children, 49 percent

-Married women, 48 percent

-Married men, 46 percent

-Those working less than 35 hours per week, 45 percent

-People satisfied with their jobs, 44 percent

I'm a non-investor making more than $100,000 a year, Republican, College graduate, single guy who works less than 35 hours a year, who likes my career.

Not only am I deliriously happy, but my golf swing improves weekly!
