It disappoints me when a "prominent" conservative is chosen by a network to appear with a liberal and gets totally owned because they don't know the facts and/or how to present an effective argument.
As a result it reflects poorly on the right. Tonight was a case in point. Radio talk show host Janet Marshall (I've never heard her show) appeared opposite Al Franken on Larry King and he totally reamed her because he challenged her to deny that Colin Powell misspoke when he appeared before the UN and discussed WMD in Iraq.
She tried to deny that he misspoke, when her argument should have been that he briefed, and Bush acted, on the intelligence as it was understood by the US, France, Britain, Russia, the UN and the world at the time. We all now know that the intel had some flaws.
Then she could have gone on to explain that the war was justified in light of post 9-11 approach, Bush Doctrine, Saddam's support of terrorists, etc.
Instead she tried to say the Powell was 100% accurate because Saddam is the ultimate WMD, etc.
Franken ate her lunch. She will probably be invited to all the other shows now.
She and the other lady sure shut Al Franken up.
I thought that (whoever it was) ultimately made a good point against Franken, when she repeatedly asserted the Kerry has not signed a form 180, while Franken embraced the myth that all of Kerry's military records have been released. She was quite persistent, IMHO...
Sorry for the misspelled last name. I thought Franken got the best of her. She seemed ill-prepared.
I heard her show on the weekend (replay from last Friday's show I think) and she used the same lame-o-argument with a caller. Of course, with the caller she can have the last word. She's okay but with O'Franken it would have been better to have had a Medved or Prager debate him. Of course, CNN isn't going to book the best of the conservative debaters, are they?
BTW--Janet Parshall is her name
Here's her site:

P.S. I didn't see the debate between her and Franken on CNN but I have seen her before on different progams and she's not the most effective person to represent our side. I like her but we need someone who can really tear them up. I guess I shouldn't be too critical because if I was up there I would be a blathering idiot.
The only reason Franken and/or Kerry are so-called good debaters is because they are willing to lie their brains out and act like it's the truth.
Sometimes I think the liberal media (Larry Alive King, Chrissy Matthews, etc.) wants to use the less capable conversatives against seasoned liar provocators like Al Franken as a foil.
The problem is that Al Frankin is beating a dead horse.
So, they did not find WMD's
No sense in arguing the fact (although she did point out that they had buried a MIG)
The FACT is that Saddam was in violation of his treaty obligations-period
It was his responsibilty to prove to US that he did not have WMD.
Once he refused, we had every legal right to hold him in violation of the treaty he had signed.
We did not have to prove that Iraq had WMD's, rather he had to prove he didn't and since he had not proven that he hadn't, we had to assume he did and act accordingly.
Finally, we did find that he had weapons systems in violation of the treaty (the MIGs for example)
And he was harboring terrorists.
Insisting that Kerry released ALL his records, even his medical records.
Clearly a lie, but said with conviction.
Good thing nobody but rats watches "ole seven wives larry" anyway.
Al did smack her good on that point and she was horrible.
Al did not look too good when the other person explained why sKerry has not released all of his records.
The most painful part of the show was King asking his guests that since the CBS scandal was going to continue, could spell trouble for Bush43 because the Nat. Guard story would be kept alive? He must have asked that question 5 times.
At least Howie Kurtz was honest enough to admit that the Guard story was basically dead in the water to King.
