You must still have a measure of respect for the MSM, I don't.

I don't believe Rather would knowingly conspire in a criminal enterprise as a swan song. Is he that stupid? Anything is possible.

Why would Burkett set up his old friend George Conn to be the fall guy?

Burkett recanted that Conn was the source, after Conn was contacted by the press and denied any knowledge.

After the Conn fingering, Burkett comes up with Lucy Ramirez, whom he said he was trying to protect. But he also states he has no knowledge of whom Lucy Ramirez is!

Why go to the mat to protect an unknown?

Some options:

a) Burkett did it and made up a name. Possible, but he would have done this years ago if he had the sophistication. Also, he knows the Memorandum format is not correct, so he would not have typed that.

b) Conn did it. But Conn is a DoD civil servant and would be fired for getting involved in a campaign, so Burkett changed his story after pleading from Conn not to finger him.

c) Someone else did it. Who would Burkett go to the lengths of defending, even if it meant first pointing the finger at a good friend that could lose a job? Only answer is the Kerry campaign. He cares more about unseating Bush than anything else, and would not finger the Kerry camp since he knows it would crush Kerry.

So who in the Kerry camp/DNC has Burkett been working with over the years? Look to Bob Ferkit and Zack Exley.

CBS should do more than cooperate with any Federal investigation of Rathergate. They should request by the strongest means possible that the Government investigate the crime.

My favorite line:

"Joe Lockhart, the Clinton press aide newly hired to strip nuance out of Kerry's message"

After you strip the nuance out of Kerry's message, what's left? Nada. Zilch.

A Pox from Florida!!

International Election Monitoring Group Headed By
Impeached U.S. Judge;
Group Warns of Election Catastrophe
August 25, 2004

Washington, D.C.- The American Policy Center charged on Wednesday that the U.S. State Department has invited scandal, fraud, and corruption to the American electoral process with its decision to bring in foreign election observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to monitor the November presidential election.

APC has discovered that the president of the OSCE election monitoring arm is none other than Florida Representative and disgraced federal judge, Alcee Hastings. He was elected President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on July 9 of this year. According to its website: "The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's role [in the election monitoring process] is to deploy parliamentarians, primarily as short-term observers, and to provide political leadership to the OSCE monitoring operation." In other words, Alcee Hastings is at the top of the OSCE's election monitoring operation.

In 1988, The U.S. House of Representatives voted almost unanimously (413-3) to approve 17 articles of impeachment amounting to "high crimes and misdemeanors" against Hastings, who at the time was a federal judge. While sitting on the federal bench, an FBI bribery sting caught Hastings conspiring to obtain a $150,000 bribe in exchange for granting leniency to a pair of convicted racketeers. The Senate convicted Hastings of perjury and conspiracy to take a bribe. He is one of only a handful of judges ever to be impeached in the history of the U.S.
