Whether he is factually correct misses a very important point, as do all of the Iraq War critics. YOU DON"T ASSESS THE SITUATION WHEN YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CONFLICT! Of course there are problems. Does anyone think that such a monumental converstion would go off without conflict? We went into this knowing that it would take time and it would get worse before it gets better. This type of timing is analogous to asking somebody in the middle of a root-canal procedure if he's glad he had the procedure. There are things in life, like war, like root-canals, you name it, when you enter into an event where you know that it will be rough for a while, but IF YOU STAY THE COURSE you will make it through and the conditions beyond the event will be well worth the sacrifice you went through during the trying time.

The other thing about this type of criticism is that it is self-fulfilling. The insurgency is getting worse AT THIS VERY TIME PRECISELY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO AFFECT OUR ELECTIONS, and the terrorists love the instant, predictable, dependable gratification that they get from the likes of Kerry and the liberal media. Much like the Viet Cong loved the results they saw in the American media and the anti-war movement in the 60s. People need to realize when the statements they make are being exploited by our enemies. Kerry is a habitual offender of such statements.
