Actually, the reason women played Peter is that the harness and wires required to make Peter fly wouldn't safely accommodate any of the "name" actors who might otherwise have been considered.
For a real guy movie, might I suggest my favorite, The Warriors? There's not one likable woman in that movie. Hell, there's barely any women at all - only Mercy and the Lizzies.
Plus, it has the Baseball Furies, and you just gotta love them.
