Rather Still Insists Forged Documents Are Real!!! (Has he gone psychotic?)

In an interview Monday evening, a repentant Rather conceded it had been a mistake to broadcast the documents. But even though he could not vouch for their authenticity, he said he still did not believe that they were fakes.
"Do I think they're forged? No," Rather said.
"But it's not good enough to use the documents on the air if we can't vouch for them, and we can't vouch for them."
What kind of reporter would I be if I put something on the air in which I believed, and as soon as it's attacked and under pressure, you run, you fold, you fade, you side-wind? That's not the kind of person I am, and it's not the kind of reporter I am."

Dan, the last few days have taught everyone in America exactly what kind of reporter you are.
The question now is, can Rather be trusted by CBS, or America, to report about anything?
Forget about the documents for a moment. Is Rather even qualified to tell us about where a hurricane is headed or about airline safety, new medical treatments or the best place to invest money?
This is truly a disturbed man who can not deal with reality.

Karl Rove's mind control implant is obviously continuing to function within normal parameters.

Perhaps a vision of Lucy Ramirez came to Dan in a dream, urging him to stay on frequency.

Rather has to claim that they are real. If he admits the obvious, i.e., that they are fake, he will have to reveal everything that he knows.

This is reminiscent of the Taliban fighting ferociously around Tora Bora, which tipped off the U.S. they must be protecting someone very important....
Methinks Dan is just a Taliban journalist defending a much bigger fish.

This is the point I've been making since yesterday's "apology" that wasn't.
Saying "we can no longer vouch for the authenticity of the memos" is not at all the same as saying "we believe they were forgeries."
Dan still believes the memos are real, and wants viewers to believe it also, even if he can't prove them to be authentic.

From the heights of arrogance he's soaring to, he will hit the ground very hard. His prideful emotions are overriding his sense of self-preservation.

A few years ago, another network anchor told me he was sure Rather was crazy. This man knows him well, and feels sorry for him, but his comment was very direct: "Dan Rather is crazy. His producer tries to hold him together, but Dan is crazy."
(The show producer, not the field or segment producer Mapes.)

Thanks Dan! Your hopeless denials are keeping the legs on this story. If you would have just admitted day one that you were duped and apologized, this story would have run its course.

Oh, please, can someone do a .gif morphing Rather into William Tager? Please.
