Look: History is that the government of Sweden cut a deal with Hitler to avoid the feared invasion. In return for not being attacked, and for supplies of German coal at ultra cheap prices, Sweden provided Hitler with desperately needed iron ore and other concessions, including transit and overflight rights. You talk about what an asset they were in the later years of the war. What about the first years, when the damage was being done?

They called themselves neutral but neutrality is not selling arms to both sides. That's called "war profiteering."

Furthermore, this wasn't the first time. Sweden did essentially the same thing in WW I.

Some governments acquitted themselves heroically in WW II. Denmark was one.

Sweden was not. My own grandparents, who came over on the boat from Goteborg, and now distant relatives who stayed there through the war, had no illusions about this. You need not either.

Listen Pal. I don't know where you're going with this. I'm born in Denmark by Danish parents. My Grandfather was member of the Danish Parliament and a writer of the newer Danish Constitution,
etc. And naturally my heart is Red & White. For pension fund reason and working in Sweden for many years, I'm a naturalize Swede Blue & Yellow. My 10 year older brother was shot by German planes on a fishing boat out in the North Sea, and nearly, bled to death after 10 hours steaming to the port of Esbjerg where I was born. Denmark have ruled over the southern part of Sweden, (Skane, Halland and Blekinge) at longer time than it has belonged to Sweden. Earlier the two countries was in constantly wars with each another. But if you read the history books printed in Denmark and Sweden, you will get total different history lessons regarding these wars. I agree that there have been questionable issues about Sweden's role during WWII, but the world opinion, to my knowledge, is that the scale will tip in Sweden's favor regarding it's help to the allied side. You can have an intellect opinion of what you have heard and read, but I was there physically and experienced the trauma of the WWII's atrocities personally. I have an apartment in Malmo Sweden since 1981, but my main residence is in Florida, looking like we may be hit with the 4th hurricane this year! Back to the headline of this thread, I'm appalled and disappointed of the Swedish Socialdemokratiet's lenient immigration law and their welfare system that becomes a vehicle of abuse by the Muslims refugees!! And, it will be status quo there until they learn to vote out the Socialdemokratiet who has ruled for nearly a century!!! Hejsan min van, och "Skaal."

I stepped foot onto Swedish soil in the summer of 1980. Took the overnight Copenhagen-Malmo ferry with my platoon and a group of Danish girls for a night of dinner and partying and duty-free. When we touched Sweden, I asked if I could walk down the gangway and stand on Swedish land. Permission was granted, and I did exactly that: stepped onto Swedish land, turned about, and marched back onto the ship for the return to Copenhagen. Thus I have been to Malmo Sweden, for the distance of 2 meters, and the time of one minute.
