Drudge has posted a link to a USA Today article claiming it was after an appearance on Hardball that Burkett was contacted by a mystery woman, Lucy Ramirez, whom he claims was the source of the fake documents passed to CBS.
Burkett wrote the documents himself and is now making up this Lucy contact to deflect possible prosecution for forgery. Bloggers have already spotted similar words and phrases between the memos and online rants that Burkett posted.
Do we have anyone out there in blog land with credentials in the field of forensic linguistics? People with that kind of training can look at phrases and word usage and determine probable authorship. It may be difficult in this case because of the limited number of pages of sample we're dealing with (only four pages, most of which only contain a few paragraphs of text), but it may be enough to draw at least a preliminary scientific indication on whether burkett was the author.
I wonder if this is the same Lucy - Hinojosa is a (D) and this Lucy does head up a rather large health organization concerning itself with HIV/AIDS - that would presumably benefit under (D) liberalized health care

It would be simple to do.
You know... that will be the argument. And maybe a really thoughtful Karl Rove would come up with a trusted female source to pawn herself off on Burkett as a sympathizer with these obviously forged documents, knowing that it would take less than a day for the bottom to drop out of the thing.... but man... if one of our guys was smart enough to scheme and pull that off.... I just say "way to go". What Burkett and CBS did with the memo's after they got them is still the story. Would be nice to know who typed them... but it's not the story... (unless CBS or the Kerry Campaign typed them) :)
