Burkett: "I also insisted when I sat down with your staff in the first face-to-face session, before I gave up any documents, I wanted to know what you were gonna do with them. And I insisted they be authenticated."

"And that's why I told you a lie about how I got them."

Coming from a Democrat this might make sense.

Is Burkett willing to take a lie detector test?

"Burkett still insists the documents are real, but says he was in no position to verify them."

Why not? No pajamas?

But now, I understand Burkett has now fessed up to the fact that he knew they were bogus, so how disengenuous is that to expect CBS to authenticate bogus documents.

Since you are new here, I'll advise you that you need to use the correct title of the article in the title of your thread.

And it's better to find another thread to add these kind of comments to.

There's a SEARCH button right on the home page:

http://www.freerepublic.com/home.htm

Left side, scroll down.

Burkett also told a long story to a Boston Glober reporter, and mentioned another person's name, Conn, claiming that Conn could corraborate Burkett's story, because he was there too. Conn not only didn't corraborate Burkett's story, but flat out said none of it was true, as "zip, nada" (quoting Conn, I think was they guy's name)

The Boston Globe reporter was on Hannity & C. the other day.

He also said this was in February. ALL the news media knew that Burkett was totally unreliable and phony.

Yet CBS was "duped". Sure, they were. I think CBS is fully complicit, they KNEW the memos were phony, but figured, it won't come out at all or if it does, it will be after the elections, and with President Kerry, who is going to push the issue. Bush will be forgotten.

What they didn't count on is all those bloggers in their pajamas! LOL

Burkett knew they were phony. He didn't really want CBS to use them , they were just bait to get CBS to get the Kerry campaign to listen to him. The DNC,Kerry campaign and Tex Vets for Truth already knew they were fakes. Burkett was probably the most shocked person of all when CBS actually used them.

Why didn't CBS AUTHENTICATE?

That's easy. They did authenticate, they were told the docs were forgeries and then they promptly ignored it.

when cbs' damn SOURCE tells you that something needs to be checked and they don't it seems to me that would be evidence that they were drinking the ole grape kool-aid. i believe that they knew the documents were forgeries but they didn't expect to get caught so fast. i believe that the fact they did put a fork in the REAL plan that would come out in october after the documents set it up.

At this point I would not believe ANYTHING that Burkett says about ANYTHING. He is as much of a liar as the LA Times.

USA Today, Boston Globe, NYT, CBS, NBC are all ? I can not believe anything they write or say. They have all lost creditability and are not to be believed.

Burkett is still working the con, albeit from a defensive and scared position, no doubt. He knows perfectly well the documents could never have been "authenticated" because he produced them on his own computer. This is all just smoke and mirrors.
