Burkett still insists the documents are real, but says he was in no position to verify them.

Burkett is still working the con, albeit from a defensive and scared position, no doubt. He knows perfectly well the documents could never have been "authenticated" because he produced them on his own computer. This is all just smoke and mirrors.
