True. But I still think CBS made a mistake by posting the documents as part of the story. I don't think they would have drawn much attention if the story had leaked out a little at a time.
Coelho was referring to 2000. He is not now part of the DNC and doesnt have any first hand involvement. He said that Burkett came to them with information in 2000 but they didnt think much of the information or Burkett, so they didnt use it. Amazed that Rather would get duped by the guy.
Dear Dave S,
Please read post #152.
I've asked the Admin Moderator if they want to pull the thread.

I watched the show. (I know, I know. MSNBC but it was interesting show). Coelho was talking about the GORE campaign, 2000, NOT Kerry campaign in 2004. HE has nothing to do with DNC or Kerry campaign. If memory serves me he got dumped from the DNC during Gores campaign.
He also did NOT mention documents. He mentioned that Burkett had come to them with similar types of information in 2000 and they basically thought he was a loon so they didnt use it. He couldnt believe that Rather would be so dumb to be duped by the guy. Story is bad enough for the DEMS with out embellishing it.
George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent
Not sure about this one!
I'm watching Hardball now. Tom Shales is the biggest kool-aid drinker I think I've ever seen. He not only thinks Dan Rather didn't lie, he thinks the Bush campaign is behind the documents!
LOL!!!! My guess is, they are trying to shut the whole thing down and hoping it'll go away. Like Dan Blather, notice he finally fessed up, after everything else failed. My guess is they would have continued to perpetuate this lie if the public would have swallowed it.
Hmmmm...
How long is it going to take Kerry to realize that his campaign has been torpedoed by the Clintons? The $hit has hit the fan since the Clinton goons have come on board. These goons don't want the possibility of it being 8 more years before Hitlery can run for Pres.
If you have the TiVO you probably can get the real quotes for me.
Tom Shales (WAPO media critic) said he thought the Republicans created the forged document, adding at the end that "Rather wouldn't lie but Bush would."
A bit later David Frum was asked about Shales' conspiracy theory, and replied "No, I think it was the Masons."
SMACK
CBS authenticators form a circular firing squad.
Arrrrgh! I missed it again, matey! I gotta walk the plank.
Her story sounds shaky to me.
I think the only thing that could possibly redeem CBS at this point is if they turn on the DNC and claim that they were used by the DNC as a conduit to pass forgeries to influence a campaign. Dan Rather can say that he himself had no idea of the scope of the operation and that the DNC orchestrated the whole thing.
