The well-placed source continued: "Who can trust these CBS people to play it straight [during the debate]? I suspect they will be out for revenge."

Get em, Dubya!

If Schieffer IS kept on, Bush will have a built in opening to crack all kinds of forgery jokes. It could be great!

Just reported last night that the Bush team agreed to 3 Debates, when everyone thought the Bush team would press for 2, because the leader always wants as few debates as possible? Right? My theory, agreeing to 3 debates was a brilliant strategy for Rove knowing that one of these debates was to be moderated by a CBS Ass-Clown. They keep the issue of CBS and the memos out in FRONT this way because the debates are an important part of the election cycle and they may be able to lose 1 debate simply by default. Very Impressive!

Sure hope the President asks that Schieffer be removed from the debates.......He is tainted by this forgery scandal just like everyone on See BS.

See BS needs to suffer some consequences for their actions & the removal of BS (Bob Schieffer) is a good beginning!

The problem is that the debate is being run by the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU.

The way this really needs to be handled is a call from the White House to the top banana at CBS telling him that CBS should withdraw from having anyone moderate the debate. And, should suggest someone from Fox.

The message should be loud & clear--CBS does this voluntarily or Bush will make a public fight out of it.

The breaking stories about collusion between CBS and Kerry's campaign make a nice backdrop for this.

While revenge may be sweet, it might just be best to have CBS to be the moderator. They have messed up so much, that they are extremely vulnerable. If they are even perceived to be as much as slightly negative towards Mr. Bush, they will be slammed from heck to breakfast. I think that they realize this too. So they will be extremely careful to not get themselves into hot water.

OTOH, they could be just as stupid as Dan - who is still in Rather obvious denial. In either case, it is a win-win situation for Mr. Bush.

CBS's Bob Schieffer is one of the good guys and it is too bad that he has to suffer the consequences of their Village Idiot.

But, when he is replaced, C-SPAN's Brian Lamb should take his place.

Even if don't get the CBS guy off the debate, this will at least castrate him. He'll be reduced to asking something like "So Mr. President, how is your dog doing?"

Bob Schieffer is an old man and living proof, at least as regards the second part of Winston Churchill's--borrowing from someone else, as I remember--observation: When you're young and not a liberal, you have no heart, when you're old and not a conservative, you have no brain.

P.S. I have a bit of a quarrel with the part about being young and liberal. I think that those who are young and conservative are just far advanced in their observations as to how the world works.
