A statement from Dan Rather of CBS News:
Last week, amid increasing questions about the authenticity of documents used in support of a 60 MINUTES WEDNESDAY story about President Bush's time in the Texas Air National Guard, CBS News vowed to re-examine the documents in question -- and their source -- vigorously. And we promised that we would let the American public know what this examination turned up, whatever the outcome...(snip)
Apology not accepted, Rather. You are only sorry you clumsily botched the hit on Bush. Forgiveness wont be considered until you tell us who in the Kerry campaign typed the originals and faxed you the copies. You are still a megalomaniacal piece of shit. To put it in Texan: You are shadier than your mommas facial hair on a weekend camping trip.
Has anybody considered that perhaps the Abu Ghraib/Gharaib/howeverthehell prison deal was staged by CBS?
Lets say the TANG documents in this caper were not discovered as frauds. Wed have the same situation as the Iraqi prison. Documentary evidence from unknown sources unearthed by Mary Mapes and CBS with the intent to do damage to the Bush campaign....

That's exactly what I'm thinking. How many other lies has CBS put out on President Bush, and how can we believe those either?
"Was Abu Ghraib a CBS Put Up Job too?"
Always thought so.
The first thing my husband thought after making the connection between maipes(spelling?) and Abu Ghraib. When he saw the pictures he said they were posed. No offense to those of us who come from the sticks, but does it make any sense that some hicks from the sticks know exactly how to humiliate the Arab male? The pictures were taken - but at who's order??
Problem is the participants have fessed up.
Duh!

We've had a lot of new folks join up recently. Welcome aboard, this thread is a gentle reminder of some basic posting guidelines. (And for some of you old timers as well) Please read the follow, and ask any questions. We will all try to help you out.
This is a job for those miraculous blogers who tackled CBS and their runaway star and made a homerun. The Abu Ghraib story is full of holes and Rather is standing in the middle of them as well as CBS..... Go Git 'EM!
I have the same question about the Israeli spy story from few weeks ago. CBS was the one to brake the story.
Then, too, there's American law that governs the behavior of our troops, and the moral standards you learned at your mother's knee, or on the smart end of her switch.
We do not do torture. People who use torture will be penalized through loss of freedom.
Dan Rather turned me into a newt!! That guy weighs the same as a duck! |
Remember when Michael Moore said he received the Abu photos in January and kept it quiet. Now we know who his source was, Ms. Mapes and Mr. Rather.
I don't believe for one second that the things that occurred at Abu Ghraib were stunts orchestrated by CBS, and it is insulting to true military personal to even suggest so. There are actually two distinct story lines that are inter-related and point to the same failures in underlying policies regarding Abu Ghraib: the photos taken for the sexual amusement of homosexual men and simple-minded horny women, and the disgustingly poor organizational leadership of the two generals in charge of the MP and MI units at the facility. Their failures in leadership are the direct result of PC promotions and policies that have and are ruining our military's ability to prosecute a war. The very fact that none of the real perpetrators of the sex crimes at Abu Ghraib have been prosecuted yet should tell most of you all you need to know about how internal gender politics are driving nearly every decision coming out of the Pentagon.
Anybody else starting wonder if there really WAS a 'Deep Throat'?
What happened at Abu Garab was real.
How it was played up, dragged through the mud, and hyped was entirely an MSM creation led by CBS for political reasons (making the Bush Admin look incompetent).
If not CBS then some other Lib media outlet. For sure.

I cannot understand why the public has not picked up this information. The people in the videotape who are doing the Iraqi prisoners wrong --- that is a setup. The authority goes pretty high up but it is a setup to make the president of the United States and to make America look stupid and to be seen with two faces. It is very important for the president to get to the culprit. The man who is behind all that wears a tan uniform and has two stars on his shoulders. He is an individual who hates the American way and wants to see changes in America. He does not have an interest in winning a war. That is definitely not his interest. This man has been paid millions and millions of dollars to do this awful thing.
It doesn't take someone who is really bright to look at these videos and see that they are staged. And everything that was done was staged so that it would look so ridiculous. It is important for the intelligence to get to the bottom of this. They will find that an officer who is very high up will have money put in a Swiss bank. It will not be in his name though; it will be in a woman's name who is connected with him and she is not American. She is not his wife; she is a girlfriend, but this money will be transferred around in years to come. This money was put together by a number of people who got together and planted this little scheme right in the middle of political battles in America. It was meant to make the president look silly.
No however those photos should never have gone to the media. It was being handled by military justice. Some lib media had inroads they should not have had to those pics.
