~ MILITARY SHORT SPEAK ~ |
|
The military seems to have a language of its own, with many terms, acronyms, initialisms and abbreviations that aren't generally used in the "civilian world." What is an acronym? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words. It is spoken as one word. What is an initialism? It is a word created from the first letter of a series of other words, but each letter is spoken separately. What is an abbreviation? It is a shortened version of a word. What is Short Speak? It is any and all of the above. Want to know what they are talking about? Read on... |

Good morning USVet. I am sure that you've gained a lot of "spoiling" experience given you've had 11 to practice with (spoiling is what grandparents do best! And, fun....LOL)

Thanks. We had the, all the kids are in town and we have a good excuse, blowout Saturday Night/Sunday Morning at the house. Those things get kinda crazy since 4 of the 5 men in the family are ex-military...one Squid and 3 Airborne, and my daughter is ex Air Force and never ceases to remind us that she was (operative word here "was") a Captian and we were all lowly enlisted slobs.

Gotta go for a short break....do some of that work they pay me to do........but before I go, is there some nice lonely military person out there who would like some sugar? Hmmmm.....don't be shy.......I've got plenty......

PPHHHBBBLLTTT!!!It is a time-honored tradition for men to mark a glad occasion with the celebratory cigar, enjoying them in the fellowship and company of friends. And each time the cigar is enjoyed in this manner, it reinforces that tradition, and expunges the memory of William the Impeached.

When I have a new G-Kid the cigar ban is lifted....at least temporarily!
Diamonds are TRUMP!

Well, OK! (smile)
Do these stoggies have a nice aroma? I don't like most stoggies. My dad tortured us as children with his smelly cigars! We'd take Sunday drives and he'd smoke those stinky things while we were forced to be in the car. Ugh!

Speaking as a former O-3 myself, I just state that fact once, and let it be done. It becomes apparent in so many other ways: my rapier wit, my professional bearing, my limitless depth of knowledge, my utter modesty, ...
Besides, it smacks of, "Did you know I was an officer?"
