A Fox News affiliate ambushed Dan Rather with a "60 Minutes-style" interview at the airport. Fox News is reporting that a reporter with one its affilates met Rather at the airport and asked repeated questions about Rathergate.
The full interview is to air at 4PM.
Reporter asks Rather if he was douped. Rather says something like "You work for Fox, are you being douped?"
That's why they are so faxed up. ;)
I'm stunned one would think RATher isn't stoned.
Seriesly? This is hugh. Fax News breaking now! The Twilight Zune? LOL
Looks like FRee Republic needs a spell checker since many FReepers don't proofread anymore, alas.
P.S. Just having fun, no offense intended.
Question.. What walks like a duck but is about get GOOSED in the big pond..
that was an SNL classic!
Name three things that leave a dark, stinking substance everywhere they go.
What's that got to do with the price of eggs? Sheesh. You're a conservative, you're supposed to think logically and rationally, and not get all emotional.
OK, let's spell it out, for those who don't like to do their homework.
1) September 15 is an IRS quarterly estimately tax deadline date. Those who pay estimated taxes can confirm this. Raising money via stock sales to make these payments by the deadline is common. Ask any tax CPA.
2) From the filing, here:
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/813828/000081382804000150/xslF345X02/red370.xml
SR exercised 341,500 shares that were optioned at $15.25, which he turned around and sold at $35. That's a gross profit of $6,744,625. There would be obviously be some transaction fees.
3) Please note from the filing that this man controls another 104,334,828 shares (!!) of this stock. Thus, he sold less than 4% of what he owned.
4) Also please note from the filing that SR still has another 658,500 options that he has not yet exercised.
From all of this, it's pretty obvious this guy isn't liquidating his VIA stock holdings, and, I believe, it is absurd to "demand" that he "explain himself".
Heck, I'm off an order of magnitude on his ownership. This was less than 0.4% of his holdings!
mine has a new battery; somewhere....
could you "beeb" me....i hope its here, n not @airport baggage claim...
"nattering nabobs of negativism."
Do you think there is some kind of network programming irony going on? Tonight, NBC is running "The Titanic" against "60 mins". I kid you not!
Dan Blather's reply at D/FW Airport ??? ....
Hmmmm? Maybe that's why I don't watch O'Reilly.
Rather side-stepped his way out of the terminal all the way to his waiting limo with stick-goo courteousy, swipes at Fox, and then more sicky-fake "So glad to be back in Dalls - so good to see you." kinda crap.
It was like he was avoiding his worst nightmare.
"According to the Kerry for President campaign, News Corp. President and chief operating officer Peter Chernin has endorsed the Democratic presidential candidate. News Corp. owns Fox News Channel."
"That would put Chernin in the ranks of some other Kerry-supporting media executives, including Barry Diller, Kirk Kerkorian (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.) and Harvey and Robert Weinstein, who backed the release of Michael Moore's controversial anti-Bush documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11.
____________
"News Corp. owns Fox News Channel." . . and Bill O'Reilly, and Hannity and Colmes. Is it any wonder direct posting from FoxNews is on the "No-No" list?
____________
That 'splains this . .
Well .. while I disagree with a prominent media person donating to a candidate (on personal grounds), he didn't do anything illegal.
And .. even though the guy works for Newscorp, that does not mean FOX is in bed with the DNC. I have my own personal gripes with FOX, but since I don't own the network, I just vote with my remote.
I read the link .. so what's your point ..??
