The ongoing controversy over the fake CBS documents and the prominent role played in shedding the light on this by Freerepublic.com has caused an unprecendented surge in new memberships on the website.
Thursday, September 16, 2004 should be remembered as a landmark day for this website. On that day, more new users signed up on Freerepublic.com than on any single day before.
Click here for a running tally of daily new signups that the website keeps.
The 390 users signed up on the website eclipsed sign-up spikes caused during other newsworthy events, such as the Florida recount during the 2000 election, and the events of September 11, 2001.
The name of the website has been publicized widely in many media outlets as the source of the first revelation that the CBS memos were forgeries.
According to web traffic tracking site Alexa, Freerepublic.com has shown a remarkable increase in traffic over the last few weeks, as shown below:
Note from founders of the website: Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side.
Always a good idea. Basically, civility is the the difference bwtween conservative newbies and trolls. Trolls, even when they're trying to talk the conservative talk, out themselves by displaying their ignorance or by having a patronizing attitude, not to mention their digital Tourette's Syndrome. The troll threads are kinda fun though and provide comic relief, as well as the opportunity to vent our hostilities (and they do build at times) on appropriate targets.
Leftist infiltrators to FR and Rush's Seminar Callers seem to have the same trait: They out themselves in the first three sentences.
Any info on what happened to NAVIGATOR?

Heh! I suck at math.
You echo the sentiments of many a Freeper... finding this site for the first time is like stumbling upon an oasis of sanity :-)
Welcome!
yeah, but you've got a great eye for symbolism and poetic justice.
WELCOME HOME!
Thank you!!
Navigator? And just who were you, before you took a new nic?
Yeah, and only the few make it on TV these days.

People are just naturally curious. Some will stay (the conservatives), but most will check it out and leave. Such is life. A little excitement, a fleeting moment of fame, and then back to same ole, same ole.
WOW. Almost the same time I came on and also through the Drudge link. It was so amazing to find this site back then. I heard about Drudge from the Mike Reagan Show, the first conservative talk radio show I listened to. Then Free Republic opened all the other sites and sources to me because so much information passes through this forum.
Mr Sol.
n00bs...just an FYI...before you disagree with anyone, remember that the "Member since" police will jump on anyone who has been here less than 2 months.
Thank you Jim for making the country a neighborhood.
