The ongoing controversy over the fake CBS documents and the prominent role played in shedding the light on this by Freerepublic.com has caused an unprecendented surge in new memberships on the website.
Thursday, September 16, 2004 should be remembered as a landmark day for this website. On that day, more new users signed up on Freerepublic.com than on any single day before.
Click here for a running tally of daily new signups that the website keeps.
The 390 users signed up on the website eclipsed sign-up spikes caused during other newsworthy events, such as the Florida recount during the 2000 election, and the events of September 11, 2001.
The name of the website has been publicized widely in many media outlets as the source of the first revelation that the CBS memos were forgeries.
According to web traffic tracking site Alexa, Freerepublic.com has shown a remarkable increase in traffic over the last few weeks, as shown below:

Just curious. Does a tee shirt and silk boxers count?
Wlcome to FR. I'm thrilled to see so many new FReepers here that aren't trolls.
Hi there....I got my bumper sticker AND T-shirt from the websight www.rightnation.com
As long as they bear the Pajama People or Truth Squad logo and are worn with the moose or kitty slippers.
Wait till you see how they hate FR. Have you visited the DUhmmy Underground yet?
Bummer. I didn't get the memo.
*slaps wrist*
"Don't know what "DU" is."
Not all liberals are trolls, but all trolls ARE liberals. See here for some background on trolls and ZOT.
As for the DU, think of a bunch of inbred crosses between Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich on steroids and out of medication.
Is it wrong to post without wearing jammies? Should I put some clothes on??
IF you decide to take a look over at DU, PLEASE don't let any kids see. LOTS of profanity.
Or DUh'ers; a take off on how they refer to themselves (DU'ers).
Hey OCC. And you gave me a hard time for changing clothes in the car! You are out of uniform soldier!
*Smooch*
At least 164396 ; ~)
We oughta get a pool started on the date when we get poster #200,000.
I pick January 20th.
Congratulations, Jim and John! Now: if only every poster would pay ONE DOLLAR per quarter!
It's called cross-town traffic.
Wow! Someone used the term "Hurricane FReeper" on a thread earlier. And I would add, we're gaining momentum and heading straight for the MSM and DNC and, peripherally, the DU. I like it!
Gave you a hard time?? Only because you didnt change into your jammies!
Welcome to FR. It can be a little intimidating at first, but you'll adapt. We're just a bunch of cute, cuddly little fuzzballs (to borrow a Rush term) with a few porcupine quills thrown in.
Don't you mean "put on the GOOD pajamas?"
