The ongoing controversy over the fake CBS documents and the prominent role played in shedding the light on this by Freerepublic.com has caused an unprecendented surge in new memberships on the website.
Thursday, September 16, 2004 should be remembered as a landmark day for this website. On that day, more new users signed up on Freerepublic.com than on any single day before.
Click here for a running tally of daily new signups that the website keeps.
The 390 users signed up on the website eclipsed sign-up spikes caused during other newsworthy events, such as the Florida recount during the 2000 election, and the events of September 11, 2001.
The name of the website has been publicized widely in many media outlets as the source of the first revelation that the CBS memos were forgeries.
According to web traffic tracking site Alexa, Freerepublic.com has shown a remarkable increase in traffic over the last few weeks, as shown below:
Note from founders of the website: Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side.
And to you!!!
Can I wear my Victoria Secret pajamas to the newbee function in Michigan? I am only a one day old newbee.
I'm still wondering why I can't get it to show more than 50 posts at a time.
Welcome to FR.
Thanks ever so much RandallFlagg. I remember him well in the Last Stand however you do you know about Mr. (Liberal) King. If anyone needs a good freeping, it's him.
It's sad, but not typical.
I can't tell ya how long it's been since I read one of his books. I think the last one was The Dark Tower: The Drawing Of The Three.
I go by that handle because years ago, mu little Sister said I looked like Flagg.
Mu = my
Just woke up.

I meant to put LOL afterwards and missed
returning here after a long absence "stuning the beeber" had me thoroughly agog-so much so JimRob had to explain it to me-I was just thinking about the newbies
How about to make up for it I hereby volunteer to take sapper watch for the rest of the evening. How's that?
Amazing!
not without with prior approval first!
(send me 15 pics of you in said outfit)
LOL!
The council of elders will pronounce once you have submitted a bikini portfolio. (If you are not a freeperette, the answer is a definite no.)
It is wonderful that we are getting so many new FReepers, however, this constant overload (as it says) that prevents us being able to view more than 50 posts to a page (or 20 on our ping page) is getting exasperating. I was looking for a post from just 2 or 3 days ago and I must have had to go back 25 or 30 pages to find it. Did all the squirrels die or what? I keep expecting this problem to get fixed, but it never does. What's up with that, Jim? Is it being worked on? I have really resisted the urge to post a whining vanity.
We're always working on it.
I just figured that the fact that Free Republic has as many posters as a small city is the reason for the majority of problems.
I got faith. Take your time. It's not like we can leave or anything; we have a nice, legal addiction to FR.
I hereby nominate the Big Guy, LOL!
What does bttt mean?
"Bump to the top." Any new post "bumps" the thread to the top of the forum so that more people will see it.
erm...BUMP
Good to know you're in uniform! Welcome to Free Repiblic. Thoughtful, conservative newbies are always welcome here.
