The ongoing controversy over the fake CBS documents and the prominent role played in shedding the light on this by Freerepublic.com has caused an unprecendented surge in new memberships on the website.
Thursday, September 16, 2004 should be remembered as a landmark day for this website. On that day, more new users signed up on Freerepublic.com than on any single day before.
Click here for a running tally of daily new signups that the website keeps.
The 390 users signed up on the website eclipsed sign-up spikes caused during other newsworthy events, such as the Florida recount during the 2000 election, and the events of September 11, 2001.
The name of the website has been publicized widely in many media outlets as the source of the first revelation that the CBS memos were forgeries.
According to web traffic tracking site Alexa, Freerepublic.com has shown a remarkable increase in traffic over the last few weeks, as shown below:
Note from founders of the website: Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side.
Oh sure. I'll take this vast sum of money I'm sitting on and be right up there.
Heck...I'd do a MarMemaAthon to get you out. How's THAT?
Amen to that! :-)
Thank you for the instructions - very useful and interesting. So sorry, must stay in Arizona - got chased out of CA by housing prices 13 years ago :(
I cannot count the number of times I have been laughing and laughing in front of the computer.
"Goodbye to Rantis, we knew you well" is one thread I recall that was hysterical. Have you seen it?
I know the feeling. If we didn't have a pretty new planted orchard here, and I wasn't stubborn about being here and working on the locals to get them to change their views....
Sounds like your typical concern and compassion for others. I appreciate it!
I'm Elizabeth Taylor
How do you find your sign up number?......btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Watch it zygote!
ARF!
bttt
Free Republic is the only website - among thousands I've found over the past four or so years - that has literally changed my life (and keeps me up too late at night!).
BRAVO! Fabulous post, writer33! (#52)
Hahhahahahhahahha - you are so funny! And, very kind, I might add. It's been so strange the last few days, and I have high hopes this will be a supportive place. Within the last 24 hours, I have inadvertently angered a few liberals. I asked one friend about Kerry's Senate record and she accused me of slander. My little sister went off the deep end when I sent her an email about how little Kerry pays in taxes. And, when I was out campaigning for the President, one man swore at me and call W a "draft dodger". I don't like people mad at me, and I was not trying to agitate them! Ick, ick, ick.
Lair!
Have you read the whole essay? Nevermind, I'm pinging you to it and I'm putting you on my ping list.

(sorry, not sure how to italicize your question)
No, I don't think so! But, my friend who introduced me to FR about a year ago was always sending me funny clips. In the last week or so since I became a total addict, I have found the most hilarious photos you all have posted. I especially LOVE the Kerry pics and captions. I am already in trouble with my husband for spending too much time online, even though he has his own computer. He wonders why I am sitting in here, cracking up so much :)
Oh MAN! Mystery...it was NOT my b/day the other day. I was pinged, along with az because she & I always banter back and forth.
THAT SAID! I do and will take gifts, money, cake and ice cream.
As often as I can get it. :)
Click on your name, somewhere....or, go to your home page, and hit In Forum. At the end of the url is your "number".
