Yeah, I guess in Hungary they would understand how when Americans see images of our soldiers surrendering it makes us feel like grabbing our guns and going to help.

I don't think this is going to help Kerry or MoveOn's mission.

No, it will not help Senator Kerry's run.

He is running well among the most disastrous campaigns that I can remember, and it is just as well. His election would represent possibly the greatest foreign policy disaster in our history, with the sickening possibility of exceeding President Carter's and President Clinton's execrable records.

""This is all reminiscent of his appearance before a Senate Committee in 1971 where he suggested with nothing but second hand information American GIs were committing atrocities and war crimes of the worst kind in Vietnam," Dole noted. "This defeatist attitude undermines the great progress and sacrifices of our men and women in the military and the contributions of our allies who are fighting against terror and standing up for freedom around the world."

Describing Kerry's "politics of pessimism" regarding the war on terror as "extreme," Dole said Kerry and his fellow liberal Democrats are "consumed by the past with nothing to offer but attacks on the President's agenda for creating a safer world." "

With the DNC starting their attacks on Bush in coordination with an obviously biased CBS, it is now time for the Bush team to come right out, call Kerry a Communist sypathizer, question his patriotism and show the proof. Force the MSM to pick up the ball on that. Compare Bush in 1971 to Kerry in 1971. Make Kerry the issue again.

"The soldier is not surrendering, but...is sinking in a quagmire of quicksand."

Exactly. He is holding his weapon over his head to keep it from going under. Not what I had expected to see when I heard "surrendering."

Still, it's a stupid ad.

When my son (101st AB) and I discussed this ad he got very quiet. He's furious.

No doubt. Congress might be able to keep him in check on some of the domestic stuff (though the way things have been going lately I wonder), but his foreign policy is a huge problem. It's nearly impossible to know where he stands (flip-flop) and I think the terrorists would love to test him. They tested Carter and made a fool out of him. They tested Reagan and got smacked. They tested Clinton and found they could attack this country and essentially face no consequences. They tested Bush and are still getting smacked. Kerry, I think, would virtually capitulate.

Thank God it doesn't look like we'll have to find out what his reaction to a terrorist strike will be.

sending poorly equipped soldiers into battle

From the side that opposed almost every weapons system that won the Cold War, made Desert Storm a 100 hour blitz, and made the invasion and conquest of Iraq a model to be studied for years to come.

The only thing we'd get more of for the military under liberals is body bags.
