IF YOU TRAWL the posting boards at FreeRepublic.com long enough, you'll go mad. Hundreds of voices are shouting, spitting, and clamoring for attention at any given moment.

Wow. That's not very flattering.

If you get past the "shouting, spitting, and clamoring" comment, this is probably the best recap of the whole Memogate controversy I've seen to date.

Yeah, but it is accurate. :)

They will selectively pick the comments by Freepers that look odd or cavalier and chose to highlight those and only those. They purposely ignore all the EXCELLENT pieces of deep scholarship and conscientious research that are on FR.

Hypocrites. I've seen the greatest of great posters here be able to offer great thought pieces, and then have funny jokes later in the day. How about the MSM? Don't they crack an occasional joke at the water cooler during breaks from their serious work?

Jeez, these detractors are really stretching.

But, IMO, it is not inaccurate either. There is more disinformation and wishful thinking posted on FR, than there is hard, verifiable fact. Read the threads in the wake of the forged memos, and see how many people referred to the IBM Selectric. Read the threads about the AP story, "Crowd booed, Bush did nothing," where Tom Hays was attributed as the original author.

In both of those cases, a few people pointed to relevant facts, and were mostly ignored. That theme is the rule here, not the exception. Mostly wrong, but loaded with information and analyses otherwise not available. It's the interaction and possibility for correction that makes FR a powerful forum. But it is often incorrect on the conclusions.

There are not so many voices that one cannot differentiate the posters who really have something to say from those whose posts are more mundane. I include myself among the mundane posters, BTW.

I easily recognize posts by people like Travis McGee, Lazamataz, and Xenilyte among others and I have not bee here long.

Image some spectator from the court of Louis IV of France or the Tsar's of Russia attending a congress of our Founding Fathers.

They would say the same thing about Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, etc arguing over the decisions of the day.

Much more efficent and orderly when everything is top down rather than from the People.

I "TRAWL" here because this is the place to catch the biggest and the best off the back of my conservative boat.

However, I "write" replies or post articles. I have never ever "shout" (type can't be heard audibly).

I have never "spit" (my keyboard does not have the ability to produce spit) and Jim Rob would ban me for spitting on his forum floor.

I have never "clamored for attention" (how does one do that in this forum by the way?) Babies and toddlers do that when they're hungry or tired. No babies or toddlers here that I have met yet.

"Wow. That's not very flattering."

Neither was the term "incestuous" used to describe the blogs.

For a minute there I thought he meant the CBS Nightly News.
