Kerry Questioned About His 'Chinese Assault Rifle'
CNSNews.com Morning Editor ^ | September 17, 2004 | Susan Jones

Does Sen. John F. Kerry really own a "Communist Chinese assault rifle," as he suggested in an interview in the latest edition of Outdoor Life magazine? ... it is legally registered, and how did he get it into the United States? ..."Senator Kerry's own words once again trip him up in an apparent hypocrisy," SAF (Second Amendment Foundation) Founder Alan Gottlieb said in a press release.

Savage made a nice camp gun which was O/U. Most popular I believe was a .22 rimfire over a 20 guage. They may have made a few in centerfire calibers, but not in the 30.06 class. Think that would be a little too hot for the action.

blessings, Bobo

When I was in high school in the late Forties/early Fifties in Nevada, I knew a man whose fondest possession was his .410 shotgun/.22 rifle over/under. He used it to hunt dove and jack rabbits in the high sage. I remember complaining that both were single shot--his answer was that he had learned to hit the target with a single shot. And he usually did.

Thanks. I was just guessing at the caliber/gauge combo. A .22/20Ga makes sense for small game.
Guess there's hope for my neurons yet.

Savage made some popular over-under,rifle-shotgun combos in different calibers and gauges.

"If he indeed owns an AK, odds are it's a Dewat."

Not necessarily, if he got it from his communist buddies in Hanoi they probably would not have deactivated the automatic fire. If he got it from them, and he probably did, I would bet it's a fully operational piece.

I own a Savage over and under shotgun I bought in 1957 before I got out of the Army. I was stationed at Camp Roberts Calif and would go hunting on the base almost every day. I owned a 20ga single shot and a 22 single shot. If i took the shot gun I saw bobcats and coyotes. If I took the 22 I saw dove and quail. I bought the Savage in a 20ga under and a 22Mag over. It is still my favorite upland gun.

Screw his assault rifle. As with all Communists, it's his full-auto assault MOUTH I want to ban.

Kerry: My favorite gun is the M-16 that saved my life and that of my crew in Vietnam. I don’t own one of those now, but one of my reminders of my service is a Communist Chinese assault rifle..."

Unbelievable. What a tool bag! lol..........

I've got my great-uncle's old Savage .22/.410 over and under (Model 24) sitting right here in my home office. He passed away in 1981, so it's something to remember him by. It has his signature on the bottom of the trigger guard.

I remember them, too.
They came in various configurations; 410/.22, 20ga./.38, etc.
I don't rmember who manufactured them, though.
The good old days.

---Off topic but it's late. W's gun is an over/under. The 20 Ga sounds like it's for birds? Am I wrong? ---

Bush being from Texas, it's probably for doves, although down there the Remington 1100 in 20ga is by far the most popular dove gun.

"My favorite gun is the M-16 that saved my life and that of my crew in Vietnam."
Is that the same M-16 that jammed forcing him to grab and wound himself with an M-79 in his first Purple Heart Event?
If HE loves the M-16, why did He take only a 1911 model 45' when he hunted the kid with the rocket launcher?
Is HE telling us that the M-16 will be the "most advanced small arm" for our Military?

I used to hunt at Camp Roberts! We'd go down there on a field problem in July and the hunting season would open in August, a very convenient arrangement. I owned a Savage in 20ga/223.

I don't think he ever lived in Nevada, but his name wasn't Bob, anyway. He was a marksman with it, as your friend evidently was.

It's not illegal because he actually sold it before he bought it.
