Who is your favorite conservative radio talk show host?

Posted on 09/17/2004 8:18:26 PM PDT by RedOhio

I was just wondering what everyone's favorite talk radio show is. My favorite is Glenn Beck. Your thoughts?

One of my old Bible teachers was an expert on the cults, and wrote extensively on Mormonism.

Did he write anything about their weird aversion to caffein in coffee (but okay in soda)? BTW, I do have a funny Mormon story that even Mormons might appreciate. Years ago my folks were visiting Salt Lake City and went to the big Mormon center there (I forget its name). Anyway, there was a bunch of paintings done in pastel type colors depicted various historical events about the Mormons. My mother laughingly told me it was the most banal art she has ever seen and for years afterwards it was an in-joke between her and me about "Mormon Pastel Art." Okay, a few years later we were visiting Epcot center at Disney World and went into the USA pavillion where we saw banal looking pastel art on the walls. I nudged my mother and asked her what those paintings reminded her of. She burst out laughing right away and said, "Oh yeah, it looks just like those that tacky Mormon Pastel Art we saw in Utah!" Immediately my mother realized we were in a big crowd in which there could have been several Mormons so immediately she started NERVOUSLY backtracking by saying, "Not that there is anything bad about Mormon art. In fact some of it is very good and it all depends on perspective, etc...." Of course I was reveling in my mothers embarrassment and added, "Sorry, but you sunk too deep into it to crawl your way out now."

Well, it was a funny incident at the time.

ROTFLMAO! I guess that's so funny because it reminds me of some stories of my own. Open mouth, insert foot :o)

For me, its a tie between Hugh Hewitt and Bill Bennett.

Calm, thoughtful, adult, conservative.

That was not even the funniest incident that happened on that visit to Epcot Center. The even FUNNIER incident began when we were at the show put on at the USA pavillion. It featured those mechanical robots made up to look like real people---Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln, etc.. As we were walking out after the show, my father exclaimed about how the actors had really great makeup on to make them look like the characters they were portraying. I replied that those weren't live actors but robots. My father declared that they were actors and a big argument broke out between us. We were ANGRILY yelling at each other about whether they were robots or real people. So I told my father to ask an employee what they were. He did so and was completely AMAZED to discover they were robots. He absolutely couldn't get over it.

Well, a short while later we were on one of the indoor boat rides looking at various exhibits. Just before the end of the boat ride we entered a canal going thru a darkened Mexican restaurant. I turned to my father and said, "If you think those USA exhibit robots were great, these Mexican exhibit robots are even better." My credulous father slapped his bald head and declared, "INCREDIBLE! The AMAZING things that robots can do nowadays!!!" Well, for the rest of the day, neither I nor my mother let on that the people in the darkened Mexican restaurant were indeed real.

And now for the ULTIMATE clincher to this story. It happened years ago and neither my mother nor me EVER told my father the truth. To this day he still believes he saw robots in the Mexican exhibit restaurant. And when he hears that people are visiting Epcot Center, he always urges them to visit the Mexican restaurant exhibit to view the incredibly lifelike robots. Nope, we never did tell my father the truth. It's like a great running joke that goes on and on and on.

Can Laura Ingraham be heard in the Chicago area? If so when (time) and where (station)?

I like most all of them but only listen to those on the radio or available on streaming audio over the internet. But here's my list:

Rush
Phil Valentine, 99.7 WTN in Nashville
Sean Hannity
Mark Levin
Laura Ingrahm
Mike Savage
Bill Bennett
G. Gordon Liddy
Hugh Hewitt

Sometimes I listen on the internet to Medved, Prager, Boortz.

I get Glenn Beck from 8-11 am but he's not my favorite. I don't like his seemingly unorganized style while at times it seems over produced. And it interferes with Phil Valentine who comes on at 9 am.

Temple Square.... I know exactly which paintings you've mentioned. My husband commented on the style as well.

Okay, you are beyond help. It really is people like you who give Christianity a bad name and push people away from it. Remember, while you are out there with your monopoly on what is true, you are pushing more people away from Christ than you are converting.
