Sounds awful. Be careful It's good that you have a basement....and an internet connection there.

I finally had to turn off the news...everybody and their brother are being interviewed with their home video of tornados. Normally we only get a few per year. This will be enough for the next ten.
I think the same sort of thing happened with Frances, around the Raleigh area.
Aren't you glad you aren't near the paths of these things?

Stay safe. My rental house is right off 610 right near the 95 and I spent three years at Quantico, so I know right where you are.
My renters are hunkering down in the basement.

Prelim numbers = 106 tornadoes from Ivan
This comes after 105 from Frances!

I hate tornadoes. I grew up in earthquake country and I've been through typhoons. Give me those any day over something that randomly changes direction and picks people off.
I think Shelly and family are safe in my house. It's on top of a hill, but it's built into the side of the hill so the basement is underground. I'm sure her six year old thinks this is a grand adventure!

Please tell me that's not from today? Sure does look like Sterling. I used to live in Herndon.

"Aren't you glad you aren't near the paths of these things?" Are you kidding? I live in tornado alley! Or did you mean this particular bunch?

I meant hurricanes...forgot you were in tornado alley. This is like a tornado minefield today.

In some respects, I'd rather deal with hurricanes. At least you get enough warning to get inland. Tornadoes, you get very little warning, if any, and once you get it, there isn't a heck of a lot you can do about it if you don't have a basement or some place to take cover.

"everybody and their brother are being interviewed with their home video of tornados"
Is it just me, or has everybody else noticed that, from the interviews I've seen over the years, tornados must suck the teeth right out of their heads?

Intersting things going on near Fredricksburg and north of Warrington, and there's very interesting things happening there in Aberdeen too. If looked at loopage of stuff that looks extremely similiar to this in the meso-cyclone radar summary archives. Its not to be trifled with. If you can hear the civil defense sirens, I advise shelter seekage, pronto (and don't waste more'n 30 seconds doing it either.

It's raining cats and dogs here in Arlington.

considering i had no idea it was even going on, yeah! it's just raining here. That's a relief. It's "just" raining here too -- but then I'm in the Seattle area. Drought is over. ("Drought" in Seattle: three days without rain...)
