I hate to be a buzzkill, but I would like to warn the Gerbil Nation that tomorrow will likely be less that expected. One simply does not go to hard time on the first offense, especially in a liberal haven like Eugene. Tomorrow’s proceedings will be very helpful to Jeff Goldstein’s case as well as Hose’s and my case. A conviction is important and will effectively end her academic career, but as far as getting her off the streets… Not so much.
I’m not saying that it isn’t newsworthy or that I wont be following it closely, in fact I fully expect to have one of those “got nothing done” days tomorrow. It’s really easy to get caught up in the circus-like atmosphere, but the crash when she walks out with probation or community service becomes that much more depressing. A depressed Gerbil Nation is no fun.
