FBI shooting leaves vigilante's cohort critical
LUKE TURF Tucson Citizen
A 22-year-old man shot by an FBI agent in Douglas Wednesday night was in critical condition early this morning at University Medical Center, officials said. Kalen Riddle was shot in a Safeway parking lot as FBI agents tried to arrest Casey Nethercott, a border militia organizer, the FBI said yesterday.
When agents confronted the men, "actions taken by Nethercott and Riddle led one of the FBI agents to fire his weapon at Riddle, who was wounded," according to an FBI news release.
Nethercott, 37, was arrested in the parking lot near Chino Road and Fifth Street, FBI spokeswoman Susan Herskovits said.
Agents were trying to serve an arrest warrant issued Sept. 8, the FBI said. The warrant stems from an Aug. 31 incident in which Nethercott threatened to assault Border Patrol agents with the "intent to impede, intimidate, and interfere" with their duties, according to court records......

I do not believe Nethercott was ever an organizer. From what I understand he is nothing more than a punk.

Anyone who interferes with the Border Patrol should be charged with aiding terrorists & prosecuted appropriately.
Side note: I'd love to be involved with that group of people who are using remote-control airplanes (homemade UAVs) to help patrol the border. They equip the planes with cameras and/or night vision equipment & notify the border patrol when they see suspicious activity. How cool is that?...

Anyone who interferes with the Border Patrol should be charged with aiding terrorists & prosecuted appropriately.Given that the Border Patrol presently has the job of safely escorting millions of illegals every year, or at least looking the other way, you might want to reconsider that statement. I don't know what job they actually have, but it sure in heck isn't stopping the flow of illegals.

Once again it's pretty difficult to decipher what really took place. We've heard one side of it.
The problem I have is this. If a person was told by the border patrol to get out of the area and leave immigration enforcement to them, an angry retort might be, "To heck with you, we'll continue to stop illegal immigrants and turn them in for repatriation whether you like it or not."
The FBI could easily term this, to "impede, intimidate, and interfere" with their duties..."
Threats to commit violence against border patrol agents should not be made. If these folks did that, they screwed up. If they attempted to resist arrest with weapons, they made a fatal mistake.
I'm not defending the Nethercut group, because it sounds as if they were problematic. I would like to hear some third party reports if that's possible.

When agents confronted the men, "actions taken by Nethercott and Riddle led one of the FBI agents to fire his weapon at Riddle, who was wounded," according to an FBI news release. To me this reads, "Neither suspect was armed."
