If we (the US) do not act soon to forestall and help dry up the funding the PRC is receiving, I believe a war with the People's Republic will expand far beyond the confines of the ROC (Taiwan).

Please tell me we're not going to try to protect Taiwan's sovereignty. I foresee us going to war with China somewhere down the road, and I don't look forward to that by any means. But, I'm not sure protecting Taiwan (whom, if I'm not mistaken, we still don't officially recognize as a nation) is worth that type of hellish war.

I agree, but this is still the Chinese sentiment , a showdown with the states. The Taiwan issue will not go away, and I fear that GWB will have to confront 4 more year of IRan and Taiwan /North Korea. The pandora's box is now open. What or who is next in line for a whack?

Article dated Feb 2001. I guess we can start expecting that attack any time now. Wouldn't be a bad time to try it, since we're a little busy, right now.

The Headline should read, China Promised to Invade in 5 Years.....it is not really a prediction if you have control over it.

Damn.

Just when I was planning to take Taiwan over myself.

The Chinese have to come in and ruin everything.

Yeah, as China knows by now they would get owned so hard if they tried any troop assault. All we would have to do is provide a bubble over taiwan with our cruisers, subs, destroyers, and China couldn't do jack but run away as everything they have gets sunk or shot down.

It would be a bad move on China's part. It would be them against the rest of the world. Plus, if they happen to read Revelations, they should know that they won't win.
