Great idea. Thanks. This ought to be interesting. I have tix for Sunday's game. I hear Pedro's pitching. Right now, I'm performing a voodoo ritual on a Pedro doll.

I'm gonna be at Sunday's game as well. But be careful not to do any permanent damage to Pedro with the voodoo doll, as he'll probably be a Yankee next year! ;)

no-win situation against Pedro.

The Yanks have owned Pedro the past couple years. And a resurgent Mussina will be facing him on Sunday. I'd give the Yanks the edge in that game.

More like Randolph, Donnie Baseball and Torre these days.

Wondering who's going to replace Torre eventually. Randolph may be staying put for that reason.

Wow. I'll admit that I was very suspicious of the Yankee pitching staff, but they have come to play tonight. If we can't get another run to tie this up and then win it, you guys deserve to be considered the best team in the AL.

Since the days of Carl May and Babe Ruth all their Red Sox belong to us!

Too damn bad they never pulled the legendary Joe D/Ted Williams deal.

I think Pedro gets too tightly wound in these series. Thus the Yankees own him. However, he is due.

Think Torre's consulting both Willie AND Donnie before moves?

Well, since Willie's the official "Bench" Coach, he's gotta be deferring to Randolph, no?

" Wondering who's going to replace Torre eventually. Randolph may be staying put for that reason."

Be my bet. Willie's paid his dues.

Willie as manager with Mattingly as the bench coach.

I think Mattingly has done wonders with the hitting, particularly with Matsui and Sheffield.

Considering Sheffield's shoulder injury, I wouldn't be at all surprised that Donnie's been giving him advice regarding pain management and power hitting.

Remember Mattingly played out his career with profound back problems.

Yeah -- Until Randolph's Yanks start off 7-13. Then it'll be Donnie at the helm.

Btw, didn't Yogi get fired after 13 games back in '84?

Thanks for the ping to the thread. I fell asleep during the rain delay (was just going to rest my eyes, you know), but now I'm here.

Bottom of the 7th, down by a run, still plenty of time for some Red Sox dramatics.

I was thinking the same thing. His tix are for next weekend, too, yet the article never mentioned that it was pretty unlikely Bonds would still be at 699 at that point.

Oh yeah, those were the days. I moved here during the Stump Merrill era.

This dynasty was created by Fay Vincent's suspension of Steinbrenner. Best move ever.

Oh, you never know. Maybe Bonds will get on a hot streak and have 708-09 by Friday.

Then those tickets may really be worth something.

Seriously doubt it, though.

To be honest, I really wonder what advice Mattingly could dispense to a couple of guys (Matsui/Sheffield who've done it already. Ok, so maybe Mattingly tells the guys where to get the best massage in the City ;-)

But even the best lose confidence at times -- just looking over at Donnie BB can be inspiring....

Nice slider by Gordon! K!
