I don't think they make that clear at all. Listen, I'm a supporter and I was listening closely and interestedly and it took me several listens to get the gist of what they were ragging him about, I think the jump editing, the confusing point and the fact that the main thrust isn't even a strong point to make (ribbons or medals, his medals or someone else's, how many medals was it) and I think it will be counterproductive. Its just another slick attack ad, and the media will lump it in with the NG AWOL ads as just another attack ad without much substance. I didn't find the interpolation confusing. Most audiences are used to high speed edits in television, movies, and advertising. Again the point is not confusing as you assert. The point is simple John Kerry's changing his story. Why is he changing it? That for the audience to decide, but the presumption is that he has done something dishonorable. Your getting distracted by the medals IMHO, which John Kerry admits are only symbols.
I think the money could have been better spent, heck there's a myriad of subjects to hit him on, how about the new after action report that shows he lied on his medal report?
I doubt much money was spent on the production of this 30 second spot. There is plenty more time and material to attack John Kerry with. Why should they hit him with the big guns with so much time left in the race?

When complaining about my neck to the chiropractor, she said stop listening to John Kerry. My neck hurts again.

What would be devastating would be if they pooled their resources with the POWs now running ads and made some very strong and emotional ads about how Kerry's congressional testimony was used to torture and harangue our own POWs. That would get through to even the most casual viewer, and these ex-POWs are very compelling guys, I've seen them speak, they get your attention and they are instantly recognizable as sincere and honest. Why the rush? There is plenty of time to him with more heavy hitting ads like those. Although, I'd like to point out that they already hit him with the POW "card" to great effect. If you have been paying close attention the ads are moving in somewhat chronological order from John Kerry in Vietnam, to John Kerry's actions after Vietnam, the winter soldier hearings, the effect of his testimony on POW's, tossing the medals, and so on. I assume next we'll here about his treasonous actions in Paris.

The POW ad I think you are referring to was done by the swift vets. Ad #2.

It's not the SBVT job to attack his Senate record. They want to attack John Kerry's disingenuous use of his Vietnam service for personal reasons. Not for partisan political reasons, and I think they are doing a great job.

I agree, viewers get weary at a certain point and you need something fresh to keep them from sentiments of backlash. The Swift Boat Vets have played out the combat medals thing in my opinion and if they want to avoid backlash they need to move on. (Yuck, I hate that term now...)
Move on to what? Maybe finish the story of the negative impact of Kerry's Senate testimony on veterans.

I saw the interview they took the modern quotes from, and remember thinking at the time... wouldn't it be great if this got more air time. Well, SBV's, you've done it. Bravo Zulu!I saw it too and was speechless at all the juicy soundbites. IIRC, at the end he actually said he was as proud of fighting Nixon as he was of fighting communists! Then didn't he think his mike was dead and say, "They're doing the work of the RNC?"

The ad is too quick....more pause between then & now would have had a greater effect on me.

They're clipping his testimony too tightly. A bit of context would, one thinks, make the piece far more bulletproof.
