Iraqis confidence in USA, Coalition and IGC GROWS! Borders get more secure!

My friends from the coalition fear not from the coming bad news on the Iraq War! I'm posting this long compilation of VALUABLE info since I saw some LARGE plot anti-war is on the verge to come out and unease your hearts:

it is true that security is still a problem and the last days have been particularly agressive... but then I ask you when does the 'cat' yells more? when it is dying! The insurgents are geting more and more desperate as the Iraqi Population's suport for its government and the coalition/iraqi troops grows! The number of iraqi forces being trained/already apt is also growing a lot! The borders with the Saudis are also geting more secure thx to the own Saudis capture of suspected wannabe insurgents! All links to these awesome progress below:

IRAQIS SUPPORT FOR USA-COALITION, IRAQI FORCES AND IRAQI GOV

Independent poll from August: "87% of Iraqis indicated that they plan to vote in January elections. Expanding on the theme, 77% said that "regular, fair elections" were the most important political right for the Iraqi people"

"Prime Minister Allawi holds an enviable approval rating, with 66% rating him as either "very effective" or "somewhat effective." Likewise, President al-Yawer enjoys the support of 60.6% of Iraqis polled who say that they "completely trust" or "somewhat trust" him."

"While IRI's July/August poll showed that Iraqis were concerned with security, the Iraqi Police and Army are well-placed to deal with these concerns, with 80.3% and 71.6% of respondents expressing trust for the Iraqi men and women trying to bring about peace."

"In all, about 15 private radio stations have sprung up since the US occupation began, but Dijla, whose name is Arabic for "Tigris," is the first to serve only talk. The station is one of the most listened-to in Baghdad, according to its employees, a claim that appears to have merit, judging by its broad following among the city's taxi drivers, housewives, students and late-night listeners, who tune in to a night talk show about relationships.

The station receives an average of 185 calls an hour ... One such program was broadcast June 30, on the day before Saddam first appeared in court. The program director and host, Majid Salim, asked listeners what they wanted to see happen to him. The answer was something of a surprise for Salim.

"Most people wanted him executed," Salim said.

Another time, Salim asked listeners what they thought about the violent insurgency that has roiled Iraq.

"We asked them, is it terrorism or is it resistance," Salim said. "A very large proportion -- almost 100 percent -- said terrorism. They did not like it."

"It’s become more than clear that the terrorists are an obstacle created by known external powers to delay the desired political process in Iraq and the public opinion here agrees with the measures taken by the government to destroy the strongholds of crime and terror. There’s a pole at the popular “ New Sabah” newspaper that demonstrate this clearly as about 93.65% voted as agreeing with the government policy in Iraq. IRAQI SECURITY FORCES GROW IN NUMBER, PREPARATION AND COURAGE

"The U.S.-dominated coalition of 160,000 troops retains ultimate responsibility for security. But for months, it has worked with the renewed Iraq's 130,000 police, 41,000-strong national guard and 10,000-man army, which is expected to grow to about 30,000 soldiers by early 2005.

Although most Iraqis want American troops to leave, few think Iraqi forces are up to the job of replacing them.

"We don't feel safe, even though Iraqis are patrolling more than before," said Ahmed al-Sadawi, a 40-year-old resident of Ramadi. "Most of them ... used to flee if they were shot at or attacked."

This month, the United States and its allies delivered about 950 cars and trucks, 13,000 uniforms, more than 10,000 Kalashnikovs, 10,000 9 mm pistols, hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition and 10,000 sets of body armor or protective plates, the military said.

And last month, U.S. authorities equipped national guard troops in Baqouba, north of Baghdad, with rocket-propelled grenade launchers."

-------------------------------------

But MUCH more is being achieved in poilce and army battalions recruitings and buildings:

"Why would anyone want to be a police officer in Iraq? It's dangerous, no question. But there has never been a problem recruiting. We're training 5,000 new officers every eight weeks.

Obviously, one reason is the pay: $220 a month is a lot here. But most officers say they want to serve their country. They want to build a better Iraq.

We were late to recognize that without an effective police force, we're going to be here a lot longer. But now we have 500 international police advisers and 200 police trainers. The FBI and DEA have arrived to teach intelligence. We've put 23,000 officers through leadership courses at three different levels."

And about the army's recruits and bases evolution: "The Iraqi flag was raised over the newly refurbished and rebuilt forward training base here Sept. 1 in a ceremony on the station's parade grounds, signaling an end to the roughly $165 million coalition project. The opening coincides with the arrival of the Iraqi Intervention Force's 3rd Battalion recruits, who join two other battalions currently training at the base. Numaniyah will serve as the Iraqi army's 2nd Brigade headquarters. The base is a step toward rebuilding the nation, said the 5th Division commander..."

All this and much more from: http://chrenkoff.blogspot.com/2004/09/good-news-from-iraq-part-10.html (where the correspondent redirecting links are present for each of the news I presented above. The security issues are the last aborded so scroll all the way down)

========================================

IRAQI BORDERS SECURITY

"Saudi border guards have recently arrested a number of Saudi as well as other Arab nationals attempting to illegally cross into Iraq. Meanwhile, members of Iraqi border security forces have received some valuable assistance: "Members of the Iraqi Border Patrol battalion in Diyanah, Iraq, received 25 sets of night vision goggles and 10 Jeep Libertys August 28 from Multinational Forces. The night vision goggles were purchased by Task Force Olympia with funds from the Commander’s Emergency Response Program and cost approximately $101,000. The goggles will be used to assist the IBP in conducting night patrols to capture smugglers near the border. The vehicles were donated by Multinational Corps-Iraq so the IBP soldiers will have enough vehicles to conduct multiple missions at the same time." And the Iraqi pilots who will fly surveillance missions over southern Iraq, monitoring oil and power installations, have commenced training in Basra."

also on the NEW NATIONAL MISSILE DEFENCE PROGRAM:

Lastly on security topics, a positive development for the future of security cooperation between the US and the liberated countries, as American officials conduct talks with authorities in Iraq and Afghanistan to involve these countries (as well as other Central Asian states) as part of the national missile defense initiative.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, check LOTS of Iraqis opinions on their opinion on the polemic issue "why hate USA", and compare their some guys opinions from prewar and post war and then tell me that this war hasn't eliminated on LARGE pool of potential terrorists!

John Kerry is just as much a traitor today as he was in 1971.

Holding steadfast here in NY. However, it gets depressing when you see so many of your countrymen rooting for our defeat in Iraq so they can gain politically.

War is ugly; people die. We just have to make sure our troops are given every chance to succeed, and if they should fall in battle, their lives were not given up in vain.

Prayers lifted for the troops as they bring the fight to the enemies of freedom.

it's really heartbreaking the altruism of your troops who give their lives for another man's freedom.... my tears for them. How many in the world don't recognise this really revolts me. The fallen ones' names will be though forever remembered in the hearts of all present and future real iraqis and on the hearts of every honored man in the whole world. My prayers to them too.

And thx all for the supporting replies guys. I truly love you Freepers ;)

This is such a great observation! It applys to Dan Rather and the rest of the Kerry Kampaign too.

Radio-show host Phil Hendrie (www.kfi640.com) offered a bit of un-reported news.
At a USC football tail-gate party, Hendrie met a young US soldier who has just
returned from Iraq.
The soldier said that during helicopter night-flights over Falluja, most of the
civilian population turned out their house lights in order to help the copter pilots
use their night-vision equipment.

Something you WON'T hear from Dan Rather.
And Hendrie is a Democrat, so this isn't some VRWC propaganda.
