As opposed to our media, I fail to see the point in making friends with guy A when it's President B you have a conflict with and thus need to mend fences with.

Those are very democratic sentiments, A.F. Few Democrats in America realize the truth to which you refer. There are millions of Americans who support President Bush. Electing a Kerry or a Dean would not reconcile their frustrations. We need to reconcile as much as we can, but not at the expense of the people.
