Democrats accused of ripping Bush signs - (Family attacked)
Washington Times ^ | 9/17/04 | Robert Stacy McCain

Posted on 09/16/2004 10:34:54 PM PDT by kattracks

A West Virginia man said yesterday that Democrats stole his family's Bush-Cheney campaign signs at an event featuring Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards.
"They just pounced on us," said Phil Parlock, who took his 11-year-old son, Alex, and 3-year-old daughter, Sophia, to the Democratic rally at Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W.Va.
Sophia became briefly famous yesterday when an Associated Press photo showing her in tears after Democrats tore her sign to pieces was posted on Matt Drudge's Web site, www.drudgereport.com. "She was crying; they were pushing and shoving her," said Mr. Parlock, a Huntington real estate agent. "She was scared."
Sophia is the youngest of 10 children in a proudly patriotic family. The oldest two Parlock children, a 22-year-old daughter and a 21-year-old son, are members of the West Virginia Army National Guard, and a third Parlock — who recently turned 18 — will be sworn into the guard tomorrow, Mr. Parlock said.
The Parlocks went to Mr. Edwards' airport rally yesterday "to support the president," Mr. Parlock said, and brought nine Bush-Cheney signs with them.
"We stood there quietly while Senator Edwards went through the receiving line," he said. Then, as the North Carolina Democrat prepared to leave, Mr. Parlock said, "I took out a few Bush-Cheney signs, gave one to Alex, and Sophia and I held up one jointly."
Immediately, he said, the family was set upon by supporters of Mr. Edwards and Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry — "mostly the painters union guys" — who "started stealing my signs."

HA! Like I'd care! I'd have my own cameras there and get it on Fox News to prove it was self-defense and justified butt-kicking! lol

Nope. The "media" would cut out the footage of you being attacked and make it look like you started it. Keep your cool.

That's why ProtestWarrior.com carries their own video cameras when they counter protest.

He was going there to instigate.

I don't think so. I think he was there to peacefully express his opinion.

I live in Seattle, which is only slightly to the right of San Francisco. I have been in situations where I've been outnumbered, too - but I never expected to have someone asault me, and I have never BEEN assaulted. God help us if that's what we have begun to EXPECT.

FROM THE DU:
Bull**** story.

No Kerry/Edwards supporter would grab a Bush/Cheney sign and tear it up - that's like John Kerry cutting in line at an ice cream shop and turning around saying

"Haw haw I'm a senator you peon!"

It's stupid and doesnt make sense

There are two possibilities:
1. Something else happened to her sign - AP fellatioed Bush by throwing in the eeeevil liberal angle

2. A Bush/Cheney supporter tore it up and said "Look at me! I love John Kerry!"

In shot, bull**** story.

The story is up on Powerline.com now. Maybe Hewitt will run with it tomorrow.

Remember, in a Clinton White House, said goon would be issued a desk and would turn up three years from with a stack of "misplaced" FBI files in his office.

If you look at the photo in which the guy on the left side is wearing a T-shirt with yellow lettering, it's IUPAT -- International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, and the shirts is kind of like this.

The IUPAT guy is smirking at the Parlocks and, if you look closely as Parlock says, you can actually see pieces of a Bush-Cheney sign in the IUPAT guy's hand.

...."I sent the message to Drudge when I saw the story.... I like to think I had one small part."......

I sent the VVAW FBI files of Kerry to all the show hosts on FOX and a few talk show hosts because I can't believe we aren't talking about his trips to Paris to give aid and comfort to the commies and the fact that he was there at the mtg when they discussed killing Senators. It also talks about dope parties and bringing guns and ammo accross state lines. Then you get to read about how they think cops are "pigs" and they hate capitalism. Finally today, Brit Hume breifly mentioned 2 trips to Paris. I can only hope the rest will come out before Nov. It's 287 pages long so maybe they are still vetting it. It's here on FR and all over the net, so I figured everybody had it, but after waiting for weeks I finally wanted to make sure they had it, just in case. SBVT got their copy also. The band aids and the Cambodia things were fun, but the paris mtgs and the plot to kill Senators just shows what a commie this guy is. You could be against the war without plotting to overthrow the government. The Koolaiders would have a hard time explaining that.

The really disgusting thing is the reaction from the losers at DU. Those freaks can't look past politics to see what is inherently wrong with this matter.

According to posts on other Kerry threads, he has been known to cut in line at stores and say "do you know who I am?"

I would not bring my children (6&4) to one of these. However, it can happen anywhere.
I was at Polish Dance last night and ran into a screaming lib. The other mothers stepped in while I calmly sat and my four year old was in tears.

The father must have thought he was taking his daughter to a safe, friendly, courteous place. Let's hope he loses some of that naivete before she's of dating age.
