The secretary for the squadron commander purported to be the author of now-disputed memorandums questioning President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard said Tuesday that she never typed the documents and believed that they are fakes.

That shameful Rather interview last night reminded me of Newt Gingrich's mother... Connie Chung asked a question that Gingrich's mother deemed inappropriate to answer on national television when Chung leaned forward and asked her to "whisper the answer in her ear".

What CBS seems to be saying is that the “preponderance of the evidence” trumps the introduction of fake documents; witch purport to prove what to Rather/CBS is a slam dunk.

Rather’s tenet seems to be now - if I believe something, that’s enough to go on the air. Dam the evidence full smear ahead.

Of course Tenet is no longer at the CIA. Rather than submit to the rules, Rather seeks to exempt himself from them. I think Rather's days at CBS are numbered.

The sad thing is that RATINGS will kill Rather before the TRUTH ever would

Lt. Colonel Killian's son was interviewed on Hannity's radio show today and he commented that neither his father nor any officer would discuss the performance of his officers with an enlisted person or a civilian clerk typist. Also, he says this woman was not his father's personal secretary, rather she was one of two typists who worked for the commanding officers. It's highly unlikely she has any knowledge of Col. Killian's feelings and is substituting her own.

That seems obvious, doesn't it?

It's funny, though, how the best contemporary witness Rather can produce for his cause labels the documents "fakes" from the git-go.

"Accurate" is a parsable word, and therefore an interesting choice. A document might be deemed accurate (by the non-precise) if it's grammatically correct.

"The memos on Bush are fake, but sunsets are beautiful and grilled mushrooms taste good on a steak..."

Yeah, but that doesn't really have anything to do with the question, now does it? We aren't really looking for some visceral stab at the President, we were asking you about those forged documents. Stick to the question, 'K?

Fake But Accurate.

Sad! We have come to the point where we can use the same term to describe both our tv newscasts and breast implants.

"Fake. But Accurate."

What else can we expect from a bunch of warmed-over marxists?!?! The only thing these miscreants have is the lie.

The biggest thing Danny boy forgot to mention is that this 86-year old lady believes that Bush was "selected, not elected". Amazing how some people don't think little things like that are important!

" In 13 minutes of air time, Rather failed to point out how Knox is no admirer of Bush. Pete Slover reported in Tuesday's Dallas Morning News that "she does not support Mr. Bush as President, deeming him 'unfit for office' and 'selected, not elected.'"

"The secretary for the squadron commander purported to be the author of now-disputed memorandums questioning President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard said Tuesday that she never typed the documents and believed that they are fakes.

But she also said they accurately reflect the thoughts of the commander, Lt. Col. Jerry B. Killian, and other memorandums she typed for him about Mr. Bush. "The information in them is correct," the woman, Marian Carr Knox, now 86, said in an interview at her home here."

Is this not a good example of Orwellian doublethink or what? Two opposing thoughts both said to be true.

CBS must be desperate to drag this little old lady out (who is also a mind reader)and depend on her memory of 30 years to try and prove what they're saying is accurate.
