An FBI agent shot an acquaintance of a border-watch group member while trying to serve an arrest warrant, FBI officials said Thursday.
The shooting happened about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday in a grocery store parking lot.
According to the FBI, the agent was trying to serve Casey Nethercott of Douglas, Ariz. Nethercott is a known member of Ranch Rescue, a group that works to protect private property along the southern U.S. border.
At the time, Nethercott was with 22-year-old Kalen Riddle, also of Douglas.
Charlene Thorton, special agent in charge of the Phoenix FBI office, said that "actions taken by Nethercott and Riddle led one of the FBI agents to fire his weapon," and the shot struck Riddle.
The FBI would not elaborate.
Riddle was airlifted to a Tucson hospital, but FBI officials would not disclose his condition.

Vigilante justice is justified in the absence of effective law enforcement. So was the warrant for something vigilante in nature or for a real crime? And how did the shooting go down?

Our jerkoff law enforcement agencies won't say boo to an illegal alien, but a patriot trying to shut off the flow of illegals gets summarily shot.

Until we know more, this is merely an incident in need of some good reporting.

The Border Patrol is overwhelmed.
The civilians trying to protect their property have been warned by the politicians to back off and they haven't.
That is why the FBI's are there; to protect the illegal aliens rights and to hell with the rights of the U.S. citizens.

I agree - there's an awful lot missing from this account. Why was Nethercott being served and what did he do to cause the agent to fire? Could be he deserved what he got. Not all "free agents" have good motives - some just have happy trigger fingers (I'm talking about Nethercott here).

I'm not coming down on either side at this time. I think it's important to point out that this may not have had anything at all to do with immigration activities, even though this person seems to have been related to someone intimately involve with immgration matters. We'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.
I agree with your comments. I will add that there are good eggs and bad in all walks of life.

Illegals don't have any rights.
As far as i'm concerned, the only 2 rights they have is to be deported or killed!

If they didn't can the FBI guy who blew the face off that innocent boy in Maryland, why would the Justice Department care about this shooting, where they at least had a story to fall back on?

Everyone slow down. First of all, the man who was shot, Casey Nethercott, is a convicted felon in California and he was found guilty in Tuscon of weapons possessions in June. That right there is a huge NO-NO!!!
Secondly, yet another news article with shoddy, worthless reporting. What was his felony conviction for? Drugs? Weapons? Armed Robbery? The article doesn't say.
I imagine he jumped bail or was carrying a weapon after his 2nd conviction. That's probably why he was being served with a warrant in the first place. Additionally, if he had a weapon at this time, any number of things could have happened.
The reporting is awful. The last year has been especially bad for these newspaper articles, from all over the country. They must be graduating some serious flunkies from journalism school!!!
But don't everyone come down on the Feds without all the knowledge!!!
