Don't get me wrong - I'm not making excuses for thuggee behavior.
I'm perhaps more of a realist than you - I feel responsible for the welfare of my family members, and I don't take them where I can't guarantee it.

My kids are grown now, however, when they were young, I would NEVER put them in any type of situation where they would be in danger.
I don't think the dad in the picture intended to either. It's my feeling that he thought he could take his kids to a hometown rally, voice a different viewpoint, and they would all be safe. Maybe he isn't as informed as we are. We know the drill of some of the Kerry thugs.
I don't fault this man at all. However, he has lived, and learned.
And his children have as well, and I guarantee you..it's an experience they will never forget.
