WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 /U.S Newswire/ -- The Law Enforcement Alliance of America (LEAA) proclaimed the expiration of the 1994 Clinton gun and magazine ban a victory for crime fighting. LEAA Executive Director, retired New York police officer James J. Fotis, spoke out in support of the gun ban expiration, "this marks the end of an era, the end of the Clinton gun ban days when real criminals were ignored in favor of failed gun control. From this point forward our nation's lawmakers can focus on laws that target real criminals, not cosmetic firearm features."
LEAA's Fotis added that law enforcement has nothing to fear from the expiration of the Clinton gun ban, because the ban never prevented criminals from obtaining firearms. "Even the Bill Clinton and Janet Reno Justice Department admitted that this law has had no impact on crime," said Fotis, referring to DOJ studies on the impact of the Clinton gun ban.
LEAA police officer members testified before Congress in opposition to this failed law and worked tirelessly to dispel the myth that rank and file officers supported gun control. LEAA exposed the phony police support for the original Clinton gun ban in 1994 by distributing copies of the official orders that compelled officers to appear on the Capitol steps, in support of the ban -- an illegal act of compulsion for political purposes.
"Gun control is has nothing to do with crime control, and that's why the expiration of this law will have no impact on public safety," said Fotis. The retired officer noted that even before the Clinton gun ban was passed, LEAA was fighting to get Congress to pass a law it wrote, allowing off duty and retired officers to carry their firearms in all 50 states. Just two months ago, President Bush signed this life-saving legislation into law. After more than a decade of pushing failed solutions like gun control, common sense legislation like LEAA 'national concealed carry for cops' is finally becoming the law of the land.

This is good news!
In Virginia, we've had a SHALL-ISSUE law in place since 1995 and TRAINED citizens can carry a concealed HANDGUN with a permit. Crime went down 44% IMMEDIATELY. I know many LE professionals and they KNOW that an armed citizenry has their "six o'clock" if need be. Not like in the People's Republik of Kalifornia where idiots VIDEOTAPED the 44 minutes in N Hollywood. A hunter in Virginia would have ENDED that gunfight in under 3 minutes.
What happened to all of those cops Kerry keeps telling us are "begging" Bush to renew the "assault weapons" ban?
Expect Dan Rather to lead with this tonight.
I'm sure the MSM is jumping all over themselves to be the 1st organization to cover this story.
LEAA bump
Ping!
This looks like a really up-standing organization. I'll probably be making a small donation and sending an email thanking them for their support of the 2nd Ammendment and common sense.

C.O.P. is Citizens On Patrol ? I like that.
Mississippi, too.
Almost without exception, they're bureaucrats, not beat cops.
And 30 other states as well. Too bad that Kalifornia, NYC, DC, MD, have no clue.
Now we need a law requiring the unregulated Militia to be armed at all times in order to react swiftly to future terrorist threats.
There also needs to be monthly or at least quarterly training of all of them across the country in marksmanship.
If that's a motion, I'll second it.
Gosh, why does that not surprise me.
Ah, so that's what that crunching/crackling noise was. Hell just froze over. Imagine that. LOL

This "LEAA" is on our side.
