footings appear to still be there.....waves just picked up the bridge with air trapped underneath and shoved it off as the rest of the pieces suggest IMO.

Stay Safe

Mrs SLB's paternal grandfather was killed during a hurricane in Galveston on August 15, 1915. He was the conductor on the last train going across a causeway from Galveston Island to Houston. The storm surge and wave action swamped the train. He drowned trying to save his passengers. For some time the RR refused to pay any death benefits to his widow although they did acknowledge he was told to take the last train, no matter the danger. I will dig out the web page with the pictures and post it later - makes us appreciate the power of hurricanes.

This is about 7 miles from where I currently call home.

I was looking forward to my next R&R in a few weeks because I get so tired of looking at boken things and f'ed up infrastructure. lol...what can I say?

My family is roving hotel to hotel trying to get back since they evacuated several days ago. That bridge is vital to many of us. That missing link will cost some people their jobs.
