Should the Federal Elections Commission start regulating 527 advocacy groups (ie: Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Moveon.org) that are running political advertisements but are not subject to federal campaign finance laws?

The answer (using the law) should be yes, but in that case the law should have been enforced from the beginning of the appearance of the 527s. At this point in the campaign, the answer is no, due to the vast differences in funding levels. It's too late to close the barn door. The democRATs ace in the hole on campaign financing backfired on them.
