Soros in the Albany DA race, and Club for Growth money in a State Senate race in Onondaga County. Looks like the big money guys are twisting the meaning of an old truism--that all politics is local.

This cannot be a good development.

A sinister attempt to destroy the communities most harmed by drug dealing and drug use.

Much as the first abortion clinics were opened in minority communities to keep that population down.

I'm no fan of Soros, but the Rockerfeller drug laws are tyrannical to their core, and representatives who support them deserve to get beaten.

On what basis did they determine that the outcome would have been different without the Soros donations?

Soros needs to have an "accident" or suffer a mysterious stroke.

that all politics is local.

You can't get more "local" than each person deciding who or what to vote for.

This cannot be a good development.

Advancing ideas is always a good idea even if the ideas themselves are not. People can be trusted to get what they want,,,,or deserve.

"contributed at least $81,500 to the Working Families Party"

Now there's a catchy title for a pot smoking organization. Who couldn't love that.

Albany would be dead if state government wasn't located there. WHY? Because the drug problem causes frightening crime and people stay away from the city.

So what's the DA gonna do? Not prosecute drug crimes? He doesn't change the law, it's the senate and assembly.

Let me see is I have this right... someone with unlimited funds is allowed to use as much as necessary to affect our elections; and since we believe in the constitution we have to stand by and let him single-handedly do whatever it takes to destroy our way of life in this country?

This bets the question. WHY is Soros so hot to turn this country into a bunch of drug addicts? Is he in the clandistine drug business along with everything else?

Debates on another discussion board recently caused me to delve into the world of legal decisions and police procedures. What I found has scared the hell out of me. For instance, if you are pulled over for a traffic violation (such as speeding), the officer can arrest you for that violation, impound your car, conduct an 'inventory search' of your vehicle (without a warrant), and if anything illegal is found, charge you with its possesion. The SCOTUS has upheld this practice, as long as the police department has a 'standardized' procedure for 'inventory searches', whether those procedures are written or not.

So in other words, a police officer who suspects you of a crime can stop you for speeding, arrest you for it (yes, they can arrest you in lieu of giving you a ticket), and impound your car. He can then search your car for contraband without a warrant under the inventory search proviso. All he has to do to make it legal is say he found it incidental to the inventory, and not as a result of a suspicion of criminal activity.

The Fourth Amendment just got weaker. Things like this Rockefeller set of laws need to go. These types of legislation are destroying the Constitution.

Aha! Soros wants drug laws weakened!

Here's why big-money players want (some) drugs legalized. So they can become major growers/dealers without fear of prosecution. Plain and simple.

I have this from the horse's mouth, not Soros, but a very wealthy Arab businessman who fumes about the wonderful drug crop in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley going to waste. He probably won't do anything illegal, but has paid someone to write a book in favor of legalizing drugs. Perhaps he's even bought up acreage in Bekaa and other promising drug areas, but that's speculation on my part.

The point is, Soros wants drug laws weakened so he can make billions on drugs. Period. No lofty motive drives him. It's all about money.

AGAIN the only campaign finance reform that is needed is simple:

IF YOU CAN'T WALK INTO A VOTING BOOTH AND VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE YOU CAN DONATE TO THEIR CAMPAIGN, PERIOD.

No corporate donations, no union donations, no nothing. Voters and voters who can vote for the candidate only may contribute.
