Memos linked to Texas Kinko's
Washington Post via Drudgereport ^ | 9-16-04 | Michael Dobbs

Documents allegedly written by a deceased officer that raised questions about President Bush's service with the Texas Air National Guard bore markings showing they had been faxed to CBS News from a Kinko's copy shop in Abilene, Tex., according to another former Guard officer who was shown the records by the network.

The markings provide one piece of evidence suggesting a source for the documents, whose authenticity has been hotly disputed since CBS aired them in a "60 Minutes" broadcast Sept. 8. The network has declined to name the person who provided them, saying the source was confidential, or to explain how the documents came to light after more than three decades.

[Full rack of Sarcasm torpedoes ARMED. FIRE!]
What if I have a grainy wrinkled fax of a Photoshop
picture of RatherStupid(TM) giving a Lewinski
to a llama?

And then claim all of the tin-foil hobos I
interviewed ("what's the frequency, Kenneth")
authenticated the picture?

And then--oops--other people are able to
recreate the picture on Photoshop, but I claim
that the photo could have been taken with
the (notoriously authenticatable--just ask UFO nuts)
Polaroid?

And I don't have the originals?

And I won't name my source?

And then impugn the motives of those questioning
these faxes, saying I won't succumb to pressure from
well-financed partisans?

And then--gasp--it turns out that every person
I asked about the story who disagreed, I didn't
use? Or that I lied to them about what they
were verifying? Mis-describing the pictures over
the phone, pretending they were eyewitness notes
instead of a fax of a Photoshop document?

And then--shudder--it turns out that those I DID
quote from, back off from their claims, except for
one 86 year old woman who used to be Rather's
typist tell me she heard other journalists
saying he sucked Donkey D*cks? And she still
says my photo is fake, because I used a Llama,
and not a Donkey, in the picture? But she
knows "these kind of thoughts went around" the
newsroom, and did I know that he was a knee-jerk
liberal, too?

And after all this comes out, I then bleat that
since RatherLazy(TM) is not answering the charges
it only makes them more likely to be true?

Will, say, PETA buy into it? No? Aren't they interested
in ANIMAL RIGHTS?

How close-minded are YOU, anyway?

THE ABOVE IS A FAIRLY 'ACCURATE' 'coroboration' of
the rigorous logic and analysis of RatherDumb(TM) and CBS.

Has anyone tried faxing a document from that Kinkos to see if the markings match (font, etc.)? And also whether it handles the serifs on Times New Roman similarly to the CBS memos? Note that this latter point would not be a disqualifier if the serif handling doesn't match, since the document may have been faxed more than once. But if the font for the phone number doesn't match the machine at Kinko's, someone's trying a frame-up.

Killian’s secretary pointed out the terminology in the forged document was not consistent with Bush’s Air National Guard unit at all, but was consistent with Army National Guard terminology. Bill Burkett was in the … Army National Guard.

Do you have the addresses so we can verify that online with Mapquest.com?

Good work here!!! Can you confirm for me that Rather called his source "unimpeachable"? If he did, Rather's viewers can only conclude he knowingly and deliberately promoted fraudulent documents to undermine GWB in every way. And the CBS president will have to conclude likewise given Rather's contempt for the Bush family.

With regards and appreciation for your work . . . Penny

Question? Wouldn't those records be shredded and not thrown in the trash can?

---"Question? Wouldn't those records be shredded and not thrown in the trash can?"---

I worked at a Navy Communication Station in the early 70's. We handled Top Secret documents all the time. We did not have a shredder. Documents were put in special bags, tagged, sealed, and then burned in a special incinerator. I doubt that there was a shredder. I also doubt the description of these documents being in the trash. "Loose lips sink ships."

Sorry to say, this happened a lot during the '60s not just in the Guard, but in the Air Force. I saw such carelessness.

All this activity will distract Dan Rather from his relentless hunt for Kerry's girlfriend in S. Africa.

I tell you, J.R Ewing didn't dream this up. And you can bet he wouldn't let himself be linked to a political hatchet job.
